    Abstract: A heat exchanger is configured to adjust a flow restriction of flow passages through the heat exchanger in response to changes in temperature of elements that define at least a portion of the flow passages. The elements include a first material having a first coefficient of thermal expansion, and a second material having a second coefficient of thermal expansion that is different from the first coefficient of thermal expansion.

    Abstract: An integrated fuel and environmental control system is provided and includes a first heat exchanger in which fuel and oil thermally communicate and a second heat exchanger disposable in a super-cooled fluid flow. The second heat exchanger is receptive of at least one of the fuel and oil from the first heat exchanger whereby the at least one of the fuel and oil thermally communicate with the super-cooled fluid flow. The second heat exchanger is also receptive of a second fluid whereby the second fluid thermally communicates with the super-cooled fluid flow downstream from the thermal communication of the super-cooled fluid flow with the at least one of the fuel and oil.

    Abstract: An electric motor assembly includes a primary electric motor including a primary rotor assembly and a primary stator assembly configured to be actuated to cause the primary rotor assembly to rotate based on an amount of magnetic flux in the rotor assembly. The assembly also includes a secondary electric motor including a secondary rotor assembly and a secondary stator assembly and a controllable magnetic device coupled to at least one of the primary rotor assembly and the secondary rotor assembly. The assembly also includes a controller configured to actuate the secondary electric motor based on a failure of the primary electric motor, and apply electric current to the controllable magnetic device to reduce back electromotive force (BEMF) caused by rotation of the primary rotor assembly during actuation of the secondary electric motor.

    Abstract: In accordance with at least one aspect of this disclosure, a pump includes a housing having one or more fluid inlets and one or more fluid outlets. The housing is configured to act as a pump housing for passing a fluid from the one or more fluid inlets to the one or more fluid outlets and configured to act as a stator for a motor. The pump also includes a cylinder encased within the housing and mounted on a shaft for rotation within the housing. The cylinder is configured to act as an impeller to drive fluid from the one or more fluid inlets through the housing to the one or more fluid outlets and configured to act as a rotor for the motor.
