摘要: The present invention is a directed to a non-pixelated scintillator array for a CT detector as well as an apparatus and method of manufacturing same. The scintillator array is comprised of a number of ceramic fibers or single crystal fibers that are aligned in parallel with respect to one another. As a result, the pack has very high dose efficiency. Furthermore, each fiber is designed to direct light out to a photodiode with very low scattering loss. The fiber size (cross-sectional diameter) may be controlled such that smaller fibers may be fabricated for higher resolution applications. Moreover, because the fiber size can be controlled to be consistent throughout the scintillator array and the fibers are aligned in parallel with one another, the scintillator array, as a whole, also is uniform. Therefore, precise alignment with the photodiode array or the collimator assembly is not necessary.

摘要: A multi-layer reflector for a CT detector is disclosed. The reflector includes an x-ray absorption component that is sandwiched between a pair of highly reflective components. Such a reflector is formed between adjacent scintillators of a CT detector so as to reduce cross-talk between adjacent scintillators as well as maintain a relatively high light output for signal detection. Moreover, the multi-layer reflectors may be disposed one-dimensionally or two-dimensionally across a scintillator array. A method of manufacturing such a reflector and incorporating same into a CT detector is also disclosed.

摘要: A fluid properties measurement apparatus for use with a conventional high temperature high pressure test cell includes a load cell assembly and a drive motor that drives a rotating shaft magnetically connected to a vane assembly having multiple vane elements, wherein the motor rotates in response to reactive forces of a fluid sample and the load cell assembly measures reactive forces of the sample. In one embodiment, a stepper motor allows for precise shaft rotation. A method of measuring fluid properties includes frequent measurements throughout a complete rotation cycle of a vane assembly within a test cell. A system interference profile is generated which identifies stress variations resulting from various system components throughout the cycle. Measurements of a sample's fluid properties are likewise performed to obtain a profile. Comparison of the sample profile with the interference profile provides fluid properties measurement independent of stress variations resulting from various system components.

摘要: A medical grade cleansing and numbing agent combination pad is disclosed. An example combination pad includes a pad impregnated with a cleansing agent and a numbing agent each in separate layers. Both the cleansing agent and the numbing agent are released through a same side of the pad without a user having to turn the pad over to apply both the cleansing agent and the numbing agent to a treatment area at substantially the same time. A barrier prevents the numbing agent from contacting the user during application to the treatment area.

摘要: A multi-functional endoscopic system, for use in electrosurgical applications, that includes an imaging endoscope that may be used in combination with various electrosurgical devices, all of which are sufficiently inexpensive to manufacture, such that the endoscope and electrosurgical devices are considered single use, disposable items. The multi-functional endoscopic system of the present invention is suitable for use with a variety of common electrosurgical devices that require electrical/electronic support in order to function. The electrical/electronic support for these electrosurgical devices (e.g., an electrosurgical generator and associated controls) is integrated with the operator console of the imaging endoscope of the multi-functional endoscopic system of the present invention, rather than provided as a separate device. In another embodiment of the invention, an imaging endoscope is provided that integrates or combines the functions of both an imaging endoscope and an electrosurgical device, which can be controlled by a single handheld controller.

摘要: An electrosurgical system comprising, among other things, a control console to which detachably connects one or more electrosurgical probes capable of coagulating and ablating tissue. The control console generates a selectively variable power signal having a duty cycle that is dynamically modulated so as to maintain an average power level of a probe that is lower than a predefined maximum power level. The system can also incorporate both an impedance monitoring system and a current monitoring system as means to detect potentially dangerous situations, as well as a monitoring system for detecting impedance at relatively low power levels upon first activation of the probe. The probe can also incorporate non-volatile memory for storing probe-specific operating parameter data, probe usage data, data restricting probe use, error codes, and control console updates.
