摘要: A method of profiling a railway crossing may include determining an angle of taper of a rail vehicle wheel; applying a raised weld section to a wheel contact surface of the railway crossover; and planing the raised weld section to correspond to the angle of taper in a single set-up pass across the length of the railway crossover creating a wheel matched profile. The railway crossover may be a rail frog or a diamond crossing. The method may also include creating a three-dimensional surface contour model of the crossover by replicating a standard crossover profile; creating a wheel profile model that matches a wheel profile for a rail vehicle of the railway; defining wheel contact surface for the rail vehicle by transposing the wheel profile model over the standard crossing surface contour model; and modeling a raised weld section to be placed along the wheel contact surface.

摘要: A rail vehicle is disclosed to travel down a track formed from a pair of rails. The rail vehicle is propelled by a drive assembly having a longitudinal axis in line with the rails and a pair of wheel sets, each of which includes an axle with a wheel rotatably mounted on each end thereof. The drive assembly is further adapted to provide a positive angle of attack between the rotational plane of at least one wheel and the respective rail, so as to improve the stability of the vehicle. A method is also disclosed for improving the stability of a rail vehicle.

摘要: A bogie assembly for supporting and guiding a vehicle car body on a monorail track, the monorail track having a guideway portion and a narrower guideway beam extending upwardly from the guideway portion. The guideway portion includes a pair of rails, while the guideway beam defines a top surface and a pair of side surfaces. The bogie assembly includes a frame operative to support the vehicle car body above the guideway beam, where this frame includes an upper surface adapted to be pivotably mounted to the underside of the vehicle car body and a pair of side members extending downwardly from the upper surface. Each side member of the frame has an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface of each side member adapted to be positioned adjacent a respective one of the side surfaces of the guideway beam. The bogie assembly also includes a pair of load wheels, each load wheel being mounted to a respective one of the side members of the frame and being operative to engage a respective one of the rails of the guideway portion. Each load wheel is characterized by a flange portion capable to engage the respective rail for assisting in the guidance of the vehicle car body as it travels along the monorail track.

摘要: A transit system is disclosed having a guideway, with the primary of a linear induction motor located at spaced intervals therealong. A train of vehicles is positioned to travel along the guideway and includes the secondary of the linear induction motor. The secondary extends along and between the vehicles in spaced relation with respect to the primary so as to encounter a magnetic field emanating from the primary to cause a thrust to be generated in the secondary. The secondary thereby provides an even distribution of the thrust along the frame, while reducing the loss of power when the train encounters corners and hills.
