摘要: An internal combustion engine is disclosed which comprises first and second cylinder units each including at least one cylinder, pulse generator means for generating, in synchronism with engine rotation, a fuel injection pulse signal of pulse width proportional to the rate of air flow to said engine, and first and second fuel supply means responsive to the fuel injection pulse signal for supplying, into the first and second cylinder units, respectively, a controlled amount of fuel corresponding to the duty ratio of the fuel injection pulse signal. Control means is provided for cutting off the fuel injection pulse signal to the second fuel supply means when the engine load is below a reference level increasing with an increase in engine temperature except when the engine speed is below a given level at open throttle conditions.

摘要: An internal combustion engine is disclosed which includes a plurality of cylinders split into first and second groups, and an intake passage provided with a throttle valve and bifurcated downstream of the throttle valve into two branches, one communicated with the first group of cylinders and the other communicated through a stop valve with the second group of cylinders. The second group of cylinders are bypassed by an EGR passage provided therein with an EGR valve. Control means is provided for causing the air valve to open a predetermined time after the EGR valve closes when the engine operation is shifted from its low load condition to a high load condition.

摘要: Disclosed is a split engine control system wherein the intake manifold is segmented by a shut-off valve into a first chamber portion leading to a first group of cylinders and a second chamber portion leading to a second group of cylinders. During periods of relatively low load, the cylinders of the second group are deactivated and the shut-off valve is closed to isolate the second chamber from the first chamber to cut off air supply to the deactivated cylinders. Exhaust gases are recirculated through the deactivated cylinders so that their pumping loss is minimized. A pressure detector is provided to detect a pressure difference which might develop between the first and second chambers during the partial cylinder operation to control the flow rate of the recirculated gases until the pressure difference reduces substantially to zero.

摘要: An internal combustion engine is disclosed which includes active and inactive cylinders, an intake passage divided into first and second branches leading to the active and inactive cylinders, respectively, valve means provided at the entrance of the second intake passage, and fuel supply means for supplying a controlled amount of fuel into the active and inactive cylinders. A load detector is provided for detecting engine load to provide a low load indication signal to the fuel supply means which thereby cuts off the supply of fuel to the inactive cylinders and also to the valve means which thereby cuts off the flow of air to the inactive cylinders. Delay means is provided for delaying the start and end of application of the low load indication signal to the fuel supply means.

摘要: A fuel injection control system is disclosed for an internal combustion engine having fuel injectors. The system comprises fuel-cut means operable for rendering some of the fuel injectors inoperative only when the engine speed exceeds a first predetermined value during engine deceleration and for rendering the remaining fuel injectors inoperative when the engine speed exceeds a second predetermined value higher than the first predetermined value during engine deceleration. Control means is provided for rendering the fuel-cut means inoperative when rapid engine deceleration occurs, thereby permitting the operation of all of the fuel injectors regardless of the engine speed.

摘要: An internal combustion engine is disclosed which includes active cylinders which are always active and inactive cylinders which are inactive when the engine load is below a predetermined value. The engine has an intake passage divided into first and second branches connected to active and inactive cylinders, respectively. The second branch is provided near its inlet with a stop valve and is connected through an EGR passage to the engine exhaust passage. Means are provided to attenuate pressure waves resulting from exhaust pulsations and propagated through the EGR passage toward the second intake passage branch.

摘要: An internal combustion engine is disclosed which comprises a plurality of cylinders split into first and second groups, the first group of cylinders held in operation independently of engine load conditions, the second group of cylinders having no supply of fuel and fresh air so as to be placed out of operation when the engine is under low load conditions, an exhaust passage connected to the exhaust ports of the first and second groups of cylinders, a sensor provided within the exhaust passage for detecting the oxygen concentration of the exhaust gases passing through the exhaust passage, control means responsive to an output of the sensor for controlling the air/fuel ratio of a mixture produced in each cylinder to an optimum value, an exahust gas purifier provided in the exhaust passage for purifying the exhaust gases passing through the exhaust passage, an exhaust gas recirculation passage having its one end connected to the intake passage of the second group of cylinders and the other end connected to the exhaust passage in arrear of the exhaust gas purifier, and valve means provided in the EGR passage which is open to allow recirculation of exhaust gases through the EGR passage when the engine is under low load conditions.

摘要: A split engine control system operates a multiple cylinder internal combustion engine by using only some of the plurality of cylinders under light load conditions. The total number of cylinders are split into a first cylinder group which is always activated during engine operation and a second cylinder group which is deactivated under light load conditions. The engine is provided with an exhaust passage which consists of first and second upstream exhaust passages connected to the first and second cylinder group, respectively, and a common downstream exhaust passage. An exhaust gas sensor and a first catalytic converter are disposed in the first upstream exhaust passage, and a second catalytic converter is disposed in the common downstream exhaust passage. A temperature sensor is provided in the second catalytic converter. When the temperature of the second catalytic converter is above a certain level during the partial cylinder mode, the engine is feedback controlled by a signal from the exhaust gas sensor and the exhaust gases are purified by the first catalytic converter. When the temperature is below the level during the partial cylinder mode, the air-fuel mixture is enriched with respect to the stoichiometric point so as to promote reduction of the NOx component of the exhaust gases in the first catalytic converter and oxidation of the remaining HC and CO components in the second catalytic converter.
