摘要: A catalytic converter substrate is provided with a large number of continuous flow paths for a fluid medium and with carrier elements for a catalyst material extending in the longitudinal direction of the flow paths. In order to create a substrate that leads to a catalytic converter with low pressure losses and low inertia with increased efficiency, carrier elements are provided that display edges around which flow is possible in the longitudinal direction of the flow paths. The carrier elements are designed in the form of wires 45, which are located in the middle of flow ducts 41, where the flow ducts are formed by an arrangement of foil layers 40. Stiffening wires 42, extending perpendicular to the foil layers, are provided for stabilisation of the substrate.

摘要: An assembled hollow shaft, including an inner shaft tube with external functional elements mounted to the tube by radial expansion of axial sections of the tube that lie between the functional elements. Whereby the internal shaft tube is plastically deformed in the expansion sections and the external elements are resiliently deformed in the expansion sections. The functional elements are combined, at least in part, into multiple functional elements that include multiple individual parts which are combined in the axial direction. The parts include non-round individual parts that have annular projections in the axial direction concentric to a base circle. The annular projections have an internal diameter which is slightly larger than an external diameter of the inner shaft tube. The annular projections further have, on sides that are adjacent to non-round individual parts, an annular portion of approximately a half wall thickness that complements a wall thickness of the adjacent non-round individual part so as to achieve a full wall thickness of the shaft. The multiple individual parts further include round individual parts that have an internal diameter that fits exactly on an external diameter of the annular projections.

摘要: An exhaust gas system for an internal combustion engine, in particular an electrically heatable catalytic converter, includes a metallic sheath having tabs and at least one electrical conductor extending through the tabs. An electrically insulating, gas-tight leadthrough for the at least one electrical conductor in the vicinity of the tabs includes first and second successively disposed sections. The first section is closer to the exhaust gas system for electrical insulation and is resistant to temperatures up to 1300.degree. C., but need not be completely gas-tight. The second section is farther from the exhaust gas system and is gas-tight and electrically insulating for temperatures up to 500.degree. C.

摘要: A catalytic converter with electric heating includes a housing and at least one honeycomb body being disposed in the housing for conducting a flow of exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine through the honeycomb body in a given flow direction. The honeycomb body is electrically conductive at least in partial regions upon being heated by an electric current and it has a catalytically active coating at least in partial regions. The honeycomb body has at least two electrically heatable partial regions being disposed in succession as seen in the given flow direction. The electrically heatable partial regions have a different axial length and/or a different electrical resistance. The honeycomb body also has at least one other partial region being at least substantially blocked to the electric current and separating the electrically heatable partial regions from one another.

摘要: A honeycomb body includes leading and trailing end surfaces being mutually spaced apart in a given flow direction. Subsections are disposed in succession in the given flow direction between the end surfaces. At least some sheet-metal layers have structures forming channels therebetween extending approximately in the given flow direction through which a fluid can flow. The channels have dimensions determined by the structures of the sheet-metal layers. Each of the subsections has a different number of channels per unit of cross-sectional area and the channels have cross-sectional areas differing in each of the subsections. The sheet-metal layers include some layers being smooth or slightly structured in proportion to the dimensions of the channels, having spacings therebetween and extending from the leading to the trailing end surfaces giving the honeycomb body a monolithic form, and the sheet-metal layers include different numbers of other sheet-metal layers filling the spacings in each of the subsections.

摘要: A process for allowing the attachment of drive or coupling elements, such as cams, gears, crank webs or bearing elements, such as friction bearing bushes, or complete roller bearings on tubes or tubular portions by hydraulic expansion, for the purpose of producing assembled cam shafts, transmission shafts, crank shafts or the like, with the expansion of the tubes taking place exclusively in the region of the respective elements beyond the limit of elasticity of the tubes, against a permanent elastic prestress in the elements. To relieve the load on the seals limiting the regions to be expanded, a counter pressure which is higher than the ambient pressure is applied to the intermediate or end regions.

摘要: An assembled shaft, especially a camshaft, gearbox shaft or crankshaft with at least one tubular member and several elements spaced thereon and fixed thereto in a force-locking way by of expansion of same in longitudinal portions, such elements being cams, gears, bearing sleeves or crank webs. The shaft can be made up of a tubular member which, while having an approximately uniform wall thickness, is provided with a reduced diameter in the region between two elements. As a result, when applying a suitable internal pressure to the entire tubular member, the portions with the larger diameter are plastically deformed relative to the drive elements to be fixed, whereas deformation of the tubular portions with the smaller diameter positioned between the drive elements is purely elastic. In an advantageous embodiment, the region between two elements has been provided with sleeves whose diameter is greater than that of the tubular member and whose ends are clamped in between the tubular member in the region with the larger diameter and the elements.
