A continuous groove is formed at the lowest position of a splash guard surrounding a bed so as to extend from a rear end of the machine along one side portion, a front portion and the other side portion of the bed. Machining fluid brought into the groove from a coolant tank flows along the groove and is recovered into the coolant tank. A bottom of the groove has a continuous slope such that an inlet side where the machining fluid is brought in through the discharge port is highest (or the groove is shallowest) and a discharge side for the coolant tank is lowest (or the groove is deepest). The chips dropped in the groove are discharged together with the machining fluid into the coolant tank where the chips and the machining fluid are separated.

With respect to a lead detection method that uses rhodizonic acid, it is made possible to clearly identify pink or red coloration caused by a reaction between lead and rhodizonic acid even in cases where Sn is present in a specimen. To this end, an acidic aqueous solution or a buffer solution thereof (e.g., tartaric acid) in which hydrogen peroxide coexists is used as a reagent. Hydrogen peroxide oxidizes Sn2+ into Sn4+. Since Sn4+ does not react with rhodizonic acid, the presence of Sn does not interfere with the visual identification of any pink or red coloration caused by the reaction between lead and rhodizonic acid.

The capacitor bank is arranged on the first path, and includes capacitor cells. The DC fixing heater is arranged on the second path. The step-down chopper circuit is arranged on the first path, and changes a voltage value of power supplied from the AC power source. The output control unit controls, when power is supplied to the first path, controls the step-down chopper circuit to change a voltage value based on a charging voltage of the capacitor cells.
