There is provided a gait/posture analysis method which analyzes a gait/posture of a walker wearing a shoe having one or more pressure sensors attached thereon. The gait/posture analysis method includes: measuring a base foot pressure, which is generated when the walker wears the shoe, at arbitrary time intervals; calculating a representative base foot pressure by using the plurality of base foot pressures measured at the arbitrary time intervals; correcting a foot pressure measured by the pressure sensors by using the representative base foot pressure; calculating a foot-pressure related value, which is to be used for analyzing the gait/posture of the walker, by using the corrected foot pressure; and analyzing the gait/posture of the walker by using the foot-pressure related value.

A health care system and method using a personal health device (PHD)-based universal health platform in a ubiquitous environment are disclosed. In order to measure health record by a PHD used by a user and automatically provide it so as to be used for various health care services via platforms, the health care system includes a measurement platform for collecting PHD standard personal health data from one or more PHDs, converting the collected data into clinical document architecture (CDA) standard data, and transmitting the converted data to an information collecting platform; and the information collecting platform for generating composite CDA standard data by using the received CDA standard data and providing the generated composite CDA standard data to services.

An activity monitoring system and method are disclosed to reduce the size of an activity sensor device to reduce its power consumption and smoothly transmit activity and occupancy information from the activity sensor device and an occupancy sensor device to an activity monitoring server to monitor an individual's activity and occupancy information. The activity monitoring system includes: an activity sensor device configured to detect a physical activity of a user, classify the detected physical activity, and transmit activity classification information as a result along with user identification information; one or more occupancy sensor devices configured to receive the activity classification information and the individual's identification information from the activity sensor device, and transmit the received information along with occupancy information; and an activity monitoring server configured to manage the activity classification information, the occupancy information, and the individual's identification information received from the occupancy sensor devices.

There is provided a method and apparatus for sensing a meal activity among the various activities of daily life using pressure sensors. A meal activity sensing apparatus collects sensor data detected through a plurality of pressure sensors installed in a smart meal mat, filters the collected sensor data, measures a pressure variance by using the filtered sensor data, determines whether a meal activity has taken place by comparing the measured pressure variance with a preset threshold value, and transmits meal activity information associated with the meal activity to an information processor communicating with the smart meal mat via radio frequency. Since this provides an advantage of more accurate detection of the meal activity, it can be useful in care services for eldercare facilities and for elderly individuals living alone, and further, in the efficient observance of an individual's daily meal patterns.

There are provided a method and system for sensing abnormal signs in daily activities, the method comprising, at the system, sensing the daily activities, reading previously stored daily activity information, generating a daily activity sequence based thereon, sensing the abnormal signs from the daily activity sequence by using a preset sequence alignment algorithm, and providing the sensed abnormal signs to a user. As described above, the abnormal signs, which should be checked to provide care services, are sensed via changes in a daily activity pattern and added to a care service system that will be installed in welfare facilities for the aged or a home of a solitary old person, thereby effectively sensing the abnormal signs in daily activities of the aged.

A system and method for providing healthcare services in a ubiquitous environment are disclosed. In order to synthetically manage healthcare related information as well as provide desired healthcare services using an IPTV, an IPTV data center and an IPTV communication network, the system includes at least one health device, a healthcare set-top mounted on the IPTV, and a healthcare server installed at an IPTV data center. The health device collects personal health data, and transfers the collected data based on a Personal Health Device (PHD) standard. The healthcare set-top analyzes the PHD standard personal health data transferred from the at least one health device, converts the analyzed data into Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) standard data, and transfers the converted CDA standard data through an IPTV communication network. The healthcare server synthetically manages the CDA standard data transferred from the healthcare set-top through the IPTV communication network.
