    摘要: An apparatus and a method for executing a mouse pointer function in a portable terminal equipped with a camera are disclosed. The method includes: capturing an external image signal by a camera module; sampling the external image signal and converting a sampled image signal into image data; mapping a group of pixels of the image data generated by the sampling to a group of pixels of an image sensor for each unit pixel on a one-to-one basis; detecting coordinate values of image data including a point light source in the group of the mapped pixels; determining if a point light source is actually included in the detected coordinate values of the image data; and displaying the detected coordinate values of the image data determined to include the point light source on a screen.

    摘要: Disclosed is a PIN photodiode used for a light-receiving element for optical communication. The PIN photodiode comprises a gate electrode structure consisting of a gate insulation layer and a gate electrode pad which prevent a bonding layer from being excessively depleted in the lateral direction at the time of applying a negative electric voltage to an electrode that is in contact with the bonding layer. The PIN photodiode allows the control of the electrostatic capacitance of the element by controlling the depletion level of the bonding layer in the lateral direction using the gate electrode pad. Therefore, it is possible to suppress the increase of the electrostatic capacitance and to achieve a high-speed operating property.

    摘要: A display apparatus with a brightness control function is provided, in which a camera portion generates a first detection signal in an image mode by capturing an image of an object by an image sensor according to a first control signal and generates a second detection signal in an illumination mode by detecting external illumination by the same image sensor according to a second control signal. The display displays an image signal, and a controller provides the first control signal to the camera portion in image detection mode, and provides the second control signal to the camera portion in illumination detection mode to control brightness of the display based on the second detection signal received from the camera portion. Only part of the pixels of the image sensor can be used in the illumination detection mode so that additional parts are not required to provide automatic illumination control.

    摘要: An optical apparatus having a vertical light receiving element is disclosed. The optical apparatus is configured to couple light generated from a light source using the vertical light receiving element, then transforms the received light signals into an electric signal. The optical apparatus includes: a vertical photo detector having a photo-absorption layer; and an optical bench on which the photo detector is disposed. The optical bench having a first groove and a second groove formed adjacent to each other, the first groove having a predetermined inclination and being formed at an edge of a first surface of the optical bench, and the first surface being opposite to a second surface of the optical bench, on which the photo detector is disposed, such that a light signal incident to the first groove is refracted at a predetermined angle by the first groove; and the light signal, which has been refracted by the first groove, is totally reflected by the second groove. As a result, that the light signal is substantially and vertically incident into the photo-absorption layer.

The apparatus particularly is effective to reduce variation in the case where light rays having a red wavelength. The image apparatus includes an sensor, a micro lens array preferably disposed on the sensor and having a plurality of micro lenses, and an infrared filter preferably deposited on an upper surface of the micro lens array, wherein the micro lenses have a predetermined curvature. The incident angle of the infrared filter can minimize the change of the wavelength band according to reducing the deviation in the incident angle of the rays of the photographed subject entering the infrared filter and that are sensed by the image sensor.
