A median electrode is formed between X and Y electrodes for receiving sustain pulse voltages, and a reset waveform and a scan pulse voltage are applied to the median electrode. A short gap discharge is performed between the X electrode and the median electrode during the initial interval of a sustain interval, and a long gap discharge is performed between the X and Y electrodes during the normal sustain interval to thus perform a stable discharge. The X and Y electrode drivers are realized through comparable circuits since the waveforms applied to the X and Y electrodes are substantially symmetric.

    摘要: A plasma display panel may have an enhanced luminescence efficiency and a reduced discharge voltage under an opposed discharge scheme. The disclosed plasma display panel device includes a first substrate and a second substrate disposed apart from each other, the first substrate have a substantially planar surface facing away from the second substrate. The device further includes a plurality of address electrodes extending along a first direction and a plurality of partitioning walls located between the first and second substrates defining a plurality of discharge cells. The partitioning walls include a first partitioning wall and a second partitioning wall both extending generally along a second direction. The device further includes a phosphor layer formed on a surface of the plurality of discharge cells, a first electrode and a second electrode. The first electrode extends generally along the second direction and buried in the first partitioning wall, and is located at a first distance from the substantially planar surface. The second electrode extends generally along the second direction and buried in the second partitioning wall, and is located at a second distance from the substantially planar surface. The second distance is greater than the first distance.

The address electrodes and the display electrodes are formed between the first and second substrates. The barrier rib is disposed in a space between the first and second substrates and defines a plurality of discharge cells. A gas exhaust passageway is formed between discharge cells neighboring each other along a diagonal direction. The passageways and the discharge cells cooperatively form a gas exhaust route that repeats breaking away by a predetermined pitch, and returning, thereby zigzagging along an elongation direction of the address electrode.
