    Abstract: Apparatuses, methods and storage medium associated with animating and rendering an avatar are disclosed herein. In embodiments, an apparatus may comprise an avatar generator to receive an image having a face of a user; analyze the image to identify various facial and related components of the user; access an avatar database to identify corresponding artistic renditions for the various facial and related components stored in the database; and combine the corresponding artistic renditions for the various facial and related components to form an avatar, without user intervention.     Abstract: A system for lightweight multi-branch and multi-scale (LMBMS) re-identification is described herein. The system includes a convolutional neural network trained for person identification, wherein the convolutional neural network comprises a series of residual blocks that obtain input from a head network of the convolutional neural network. The system also includes a plurality of refine blocks, wherein one or more refine blocks take as input features from a residual block of the series of residual blocks, wherein the features are at input at different scales and different resolutions and an output of the plurality of refine blocks is a plurality of features in a same feature space.     Abstract: In response to movement of an underlying structure, motion of complex objects connected to that structure may be simulated relatively quickly and without requiring extensive processing capabilities. A skeleton extraction method is used to simplify the complex object. Tracking is used to track the motion of the underlying structure, such as the user's head in a case where motion of hair is being simulated. Thus, the simulated motion is driven in response to the extent and direction of head or facial movement. A mass-spring model may be used to accelerate the simulation in some embodiments.
