Abstract: A radar system and a method for a radar system are described. In accordance with one exemplary embodiment, the method includes generating a local oscillator signal in a first radar chip, generating a frequency-divided signal from the local oscillator signal by means of a frequency divider arranged in the first radar chip, transmitting the frequency-divided signal to a second radar chip, and transmitting the local oscillator signal to the second radar chip. The local oscillator signal received in the second radar chip is fed to an output channel of the second radar chip, which generates an output signal on the basis thereof. The method further includes generating—on the basis of the output signal of the output channel and the frequency-divided signal received by the second radar chip—a signal indicating a phase angle of the output signal relative to the received frequency-divided signal.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a concept for calibrating an IQ modulator. A calibration method comprises setting one or more control values of the IQ modulator corresponding to a desired constellation point of a constellation diagram to generate an IQ modulating signal; mixing the IQ modulating signal with a carrier signal to generate an IQ modulated transmit signal; transmitting the IQ modulated transmit signal towards a predefined object at a predefined location; receiving a reflection of the IQ modulated transmit signal from the predefined object; mixing the received reflection of the IQ modulated transmit signal with the carrier signal to generate a down-converted receive signal; comparing amplitude and/or phase of the down-converted receive signal with the desired constellation point of the constellation diagram; and adjusting the one or more control values of the IQ modulator until a deviation between the amplitude and/or phase of the received down-converted signal and the desired constellation point falls below a predefined threshold.

Abstract: A radar system includes a first radar chip with a first RF contact, a second radar chip with a second RF contact, an RF signal path connecting the first RF contact to the second RF contact, and a local oscillator arranged in the first radar chip and configured to generate an RF oscillator signal, and which is coupled to the first RF contact to transmit the RF oscillator signal to the second radar chip. A feedback circuit arranged in the second radar chip is switchably connected to the second RF contact and is configured to reflect at least part of the RF oscillator signal arriving over the RFRF signal path as an RF feedback signal. A measurement circuit, arranged in the first radar chip, coupled to the first RF contact via a coupler receives the RF feedback signal and is configured to determine a signal that represents a phase shift.

Abstract: The description below relates to a method for a radar sensor. According to one example implementation, the method comprises receiving configuration data and storing the received configuration data in a first radar chip having multiple transmission channels. The configuration data contain multiple parameter sets for a chirp sequence and association information representing an association of a respective chirp of the chirp sequence with one of the multiple parameter sets. The method further comprises receiving a trigger signal in the first radar chip. The trigger signal indicates the beginning of a respective chirp of the chirp sequence. The transmission channels mentioned are repeatedly configured in sync with the trigger signal, wherein for each chirp of the chirp sequence the transmission channels are configured according to the respective association information. The method further comprises receiving an RF oscillator signal representing the chirp sequence, and supplying the RF oscillator signal to the accordingly configured transmission channels.

Abstract: A radar system is described. In accordance with one example implementation, the radar system comprises a passive coupler arrangement and also a first radar chip, a second radar chip and a third radar chip. The radar chips each comprise at least one external RF contact and also a local oscillator designed to generate an RF oscillator signal at least in a switched-on state. The external RF contacts of the radar chips are coupled via the coupler arrangement in such a way that, in a first operating mode, the RF oscillator signal can be transferred from the first radar chip via the coupler arrangement to the second radar chip and the third radar chip, and that, in a second operating mode, the RF oscillator signal can be transferred from the second radar chip via the coupler arrangement to the third radar chip.
