    Abstract: Methods, circuitries, and systems for transmitting data upstream between a first device and a second device and downstream between the second device and the first device are disclosed. A method includes determining an upstream crosstalk effect for an upstream channel and determining a downstream crosstalk effect for a downstream channel. The crosstalk effect includes near end crosstalk from a third device that is non-co-located with respect to the first device and the second device. A data rate of an upstream transmission or downstream transmission is adjusted based on the upstream crosstalk effect and the downstream crosstalk effect.

    Abstract: A receiver for a passive optical network is provided. The receiver includes an analog-to-digital converter circuitry configured generate a digital receive signal based on an analog receive signal. The analog receive signal is based on an optical receive signal encoded with a binary transmit sequence. The receiver additionally comprises linear equalizer circuitry configured to generate an equalized receive signal by linearly equalizing the digital receive signal. Further, the receiver comprises secondary equalizer circuitry configured to generate soft information indicating a respective reliability of elements in the equalized receive signal using the Viterbi algorithm. In addition, the receiver comprises decoder circuitry configured to generate a digital output signal based on the soft information using soft decision forward error correction.

    Abstract: A device for transmitting and receiving on a coaxial cable or twisted pair cable is disclosed. The device includes a plurality of transceivers for transmitting signals to, and receiving signals from, at least one customer premise equipment (CPE) via a plurality of channels. The plurality of channels may be formed by using a plurality of twisted pairs cable or by using a plurality of frequency bands on a coaxial cable or a twisted pair. The device may also include at least one canceller for cancelling echo and/or crosstalk on at least one channel, and a processor configured to allocate to a single CPE multiple frequency bands on a single cable or multiple lines among a bundle of twisted pairs. The device may work for both coaxial cables and twisted pair cables and support for unified use of channel bonding in a frequency domain and a spacial domain.

    Abstract: A distribution point unit (DPU) circuit associated with a communication system configured to be coupled to a central office management (COM) circuit over fiber, is disclosed.     Abstract: A decoder circuit that supports non-linear precoded signals is disclosed. The decoder circuit comprises a modulo estimation circuit configured to receive a non-linear pre-coded quadrature amplitude modulated (QAM) data symbol and determine a modulo shift estimate associated with the received QAM data symbol, wherein the modulo shift estimate comprises a modulo shift that brings the received QAM symbol within the predetermined QAM constellation. The decoder circuit further comprises a QAM decoder circuit configured to map the received QAM data symbol to a winning constellation point, wherein the winning constellation point comprises a constellation point in an extended QAM constellation associated with the predetermined QAM constellation, and determine a quantized constellation point comprising a constellation point within the predetermined QAM constellation from the winning constellation point, based on applying the modulo shift corresponding to the modulo shift estimate to the winning constellation point.

    Abstract: A system for redistributing bandwidth among a plurality of customer premises equipments (CPEs), wherein each of the plurality of CPEs have an initial bandwidth allocation, comprises a distribution point unit (DPU). The DPU is configured to detect an excess available bandwidth condition of one of the plurality of CPEs, detect a need for additional bandwidth condition of another one of the plurality of CPEs, communicate a bandwidth re-allocation request and a set of granted tones to the CPE having the detected excess available bandwidth condition and to the CPE having the detected additional bandwidth condition, and communicate a time instant at which the set of granted tones should be switched from the CPE having the detected excess available bandwidth condition to the CPE having the detected additional bandwidth condition.
