Abstract:
Integrated ECG (electrocardiogram) contacts enable opportunistic heart rate monitoring on a handheld electronic device. First and second ECG contacts are integrated into the device to connect, respectively, first and second ECG electrodes to an internal ECG circuit within the device. The ECG electrodes have vertical and horizontal portions that can be separate portions connected to a common contact, or different portions of an ‘L-shaped’ electrode. The ECG electrodes are positioned on opposite sides of the device to enable opportunistic two-hand contact when the device is used in either landscape or portrait orientation. The internal ECG circuit is to detect two-hand contact by the user on the first and second electrodes, and perform ECG monitoring in response to detecting two-hand contact. A mobile device can opportunistically capture heart rate data along with user context and provide alerts if a deviation is detected between heart rate data and user activity.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide for an apparatus for opportunistic measurements and processing of a user's context. In one instance, the apparatus may include a processing block, a first sensor having first and second electrodes disposed on a work surface of the apparatus, to provide first readings of a user's physiological context in response to a contact between the electrodes and respective hands of a user, and a second sensor coupled with the processing block and having a sensitive surface embedded in one of the first or second electrode. The second sensor may provide second readings of the user's physiological context and a wake-up signal to the processing block in response to proximity of one of the hands to the sensitive surface. The processing block may facilitate process the user's physiological context in response to a receipt of the wake-up signal. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.
Abstract:
Systems and methods may provide for a fitness sensor that is located and operates in a sensor hub. The fitness sensor may link to a Bluetooth link controller, a communications hub and numerous environmental and physical sensors in a platform that is conducive to low power utilization. Awakening a host processor only when valid content-oriented sensor data is available may assist to reduce a footprint of power consumption and time spent in computer processing fitness models.
