摘要: Embodiments of a communication station and method for transmission power control for Time-of-Flight (ToF) measurements in a wireless network are generally described herein. A protocol for fine timing measurements (FTMs) optimizes location performance rather than Wi-Fi coverage area and bit error rate by limiting an allowed maximum power and hence, EVM. A user equipment (UE) comprises a transceiver configured to receive, from an initiating station, a fine timing measurement request (FTMR) message at a maximum transmit power and lowest modulation and coding scheme (MCS), measure a relative received signal strength (RSSI) for the received FTMR message, determine a maximum transmit power, where the maximum transmit power is proportional to the measured RSSI; and transmit, to the initiating station, a fine timing measurement 1 (FTM1) message at the determined maximum transmit power and received lowest MCS.

摘要: Embodiments of an access point (AP), a user station (STA), and a method for range estimation in a wireless network are generally described herein. For example, the AP may encode a common information field of a first trigger frame to include a trigger frame type configured to check the readiness of associated and unassociated STAs. The AP may transmit the first trigger frame to STAs and receive feedback from the STAs. The AP may further encode, based on the feedback, a common information field of a second trigger frame to include one of: a trigger frame type that solicits negotiation packets from associated and unassociated STAs using an association identifier (AID) and a pre-AID; or a trigger frame type that solicits channel sounding packets from associated and unassociated STAs using an AID and a pre-AID. The AP may further transmit the second trigger frame to the STAs.

摘要: Devices and methods of estimating the AoD of a STA are generally described. The STA receives comparison symbols from a first AP antenna. The comparison symbols are received prior to and after switching of transmitter chains from a first set of antennas to a second set of antennas. AoD symbols are received immediately after the comparison symbols. A phase and amplitude correction is determined based on a phase and amplitude change between the comparison symbols and the second AoD symbol corrected based thereon. The AoD is subsequently estimated based on the symbol measurements.
