摘要: Some embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a watchdog timer having an enhanced functionality that enables the watchdog timer to monitor a process flow of the microprocessor on a task-by-task basis that enables a simple output signal to be used to determine if the watchdog timer is malfunctioning. The watchdog timer has a state machine that increments a state variable from an initial value over a watchdog period. A deterministic service request, received from a microprocessor, controls operation of the watchdog timer. The deterministic service request has an indicator of a monitoring operation to be performed, a password, and an estimated state variable. A comparison element determines if the microprocessor is operating properly based upon a comparison of the received password to an expected password and the received estimated state variable to an actual state variable.

摘要: A method of administering a maintenance, loyalty and gift value program includes the steps of storing in a central database customer value-availability information for each of a plurality of customers to include availability of coupon or maintenance value, loyalty value and gift value. A wireless handheld portable terminal scans a machine-readable tag or a product identifier is entered into the portable terminal to ascertain a given customer's customer identifier. The portable terminal accesses the database to retrieve the information for the given customer via the customer identifier. The customer approves redemption of a value whereupon the availability of the value is deleted from the database and the value is rendered to the customer. Where a group of business entities are associated with one another, values which are associated with one of the business entities may be redeemed at another of the business entities.

摘要: A heating system having a steam generator or water heater, at least one economizer, at least one condenser and at least one oxidant heater arranged in a manner so as to reduce the temperature and humidity of the exhaust gas (flue gas) stream and recover a major portion of the associated sensible and latent heat. The recovered heat is returned to the steam generator or water heater so as to increase the quantity of steam generated or water heated per quantity of fuel consumed. In addition, a portion of the water vapor produced by combustion of fuel is reclaimed for use as feed water, thereby reducing the make-up water requirement for the system.

摘要: A vacuum-assisted venous drainage reservoir for cardiopulmonary bypass surgery with both hard and soft shell reservoirs. The system utilizes a wall vacuum or other source of negative pressure to create a negative pressure via a regulator within a sealed hard shell reservoir, or within a sealed housing surrounding a soft shell reservoir. The addition of a negative pressure in the venous return line enables the use of smaller cannulas suitable for minimally invasive surgery. The reservoir need not be positioned well below the patient as in conventional gravity venous drainage configurations, thus adding flexibility to the operating room layout and enabling a reduction in the extracorporeal blood prime volume needed. In one embodiment, a flexible membrane in the hard shell reservoir expands to contact the blood surface and reduce blood/air interactions. In another embodiment, a moisture trap is provided between the source of vacuum and hard shell reservoir to reduce environmental contamination. A volume sensor for the hard shell reservoir may be used in a feedback loop for controlling the vacuum, circulation pump, or other device. A pressure relief valve may be included in both systems for safety, and a vacuum stabilizer reduces the severity of large changes in vacuum pressure. A piece of air-permeable material may form a portion of the soft shell reservoir to vent air from within.
