    摘要: An automatic telephonic antenna mechanism for a radiotelephone handset having a body and a mouthpiece hinged thereto comprises a tubular antenna channel fastened to the body, an antenna plunger slidably installed within a first end of the channel, and a flexible connector slidably installed within a second end of the channel. The flexible connector has a first end connected to the antenna plunger via a dielectric coupler and a second end fastened to the hinged mouthpiece. The mouthpiece is rotatable about the hinge between open and closed positions, whereby movement of the second end of the flexible connector operates to extend and retract the antenna plunger.

    摘要: A microcell unit, in a cellular telephone system using digital signal processing BSs, is digitally connected to a macrocell, via a metallic link, such as a twisted pair. The microcell includes a plurality of radio channel units (RCU), to provide voice connectivity to mobile subscribers (MS), which are under control of a radio control complex (RCC) located in the macrocell. Several time slots of the macrocell TDM bus, through which the RCC exerts control of the RCUs, are remoted to the microcell thereby enabling control of the RCUs at the microcell location by the RCC of the macrocell. This remoting action is achieved, via a remote time division multiplex (TDM) circuit pack which enables the RCC to communicate with the RCUs as if they were located within the macrocell.

    摘要: Embodiments of the invention include a system and method for providing high quality voice/sound communications over a local loop of a telephone network. The method aspect of the invention comprises receiving a voice signal, digitizing the voice signal into a high quality voice signal, utilizing sampling rates greater than 8000 samples per second and/or sample sizes greater than 8 bits per sample, negotiating voice processing characteristics between a customer premises equipment and a network element such as a softswitch, receiving speech from a user at a customer premises equipment according to the negotiation, converting the received speech into high bandwidth signal and transmitting the high bandwidth signal to a telephone local loop, transmitting the high bandwidth signal from the local loop to wideband node that packetizes the high bandwidth signal for transmission to a packet network and receiving the packetized signal from the packet network at a switch that switches between an on-network or off-network status. A voice over IP platform may also be used to route packetized signals from the packet network to either the telephone network or another packet network.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for maintaining network connectivity over power lines is disclosed. Such network connectivity is maintained even if various customers are covered by different power line networks or if one or more power lines in a network are unavailable to transmit data. More particularly, in order to bridge a gap in a power line network, one or more messages are extracted from a first node in a power line network and are then transmitted to a second node via free space transmission, illustratively wireless radio frequency (RF) transmission conforming to one or more of the 802.11a, b or g standards. When those messages are received at the second node, the message is injected back into the power line on the other side of a gap in power line coverage. This method of transmission backup will continue until power line connectivity is restore upon which the preferred method will be selected and used.
