    摘要： Transmitting and recording methods, a reproducing method, and a reproducing apparatus of compressed video and audio signals which can easily realize a retrieval on a picture group unit basis. Packs are formed from a stream of compressed video and audio data and independent data. The pack is divided into a minimum unit of a data structure peculiar to a medium. When transmitting through or recording on the medium, information indicating whether or not a boundary of a picture group exists in the minimum unit is described in a sub information portion in a frame signal and is transmitted or recorded. Upon reproduction, by using the information which had been added to the sub information portion and was transmitted or recorded, the video data can be retrieved at a high speed every predetermined unit.

    摘要： A disk cartridge system including different types of disk cartridges for use in a cartridge drive apparatus, including first and second disk cartridges. The first disk cartridge including a first case having a substantially rectangular shape with first, second, third and fourth edges, the first edge of the case being delimited by a first corner portion connecting the first edge and second edge and a second corner portion connecting the first edge and the third edge. The first case has a first groove at a side plane of both of the second and third edges. The first case also has a first cutout portion at both of the second and the third edges and extending in a direction of and passing through the thickness of the first case. The second disk cartridge includes a second case with a substantially rectangular shape with fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth edges, the fifth edge of the second case being delimited by a fifth corner portion connecting the fifth edge and sixth edge and a sixth corner portion connecting the fifth edge and the seventh edge. The second case has a second groove at a side plane of only one of the sixth and seventh edge. The second case also has a second cutout portion at both of the sixth and the seventh edges extending in a direction of the thickness of the second case without passing through the thickness of the second case. A length, width and thickness of the first case are substantially equal to a length, width and thickness of the second case.

    摘要： An apparatus for recording and reproducing digitally compressed data in the form of divided data in and from a recording medium. A data processing circuit adds reference time information indicating an output reference time during a reproducing process to each of the divided data in the digitally compressed data. A recording circuit records the divided data with the added reference time information in the recording medium. A reproducing circuit reproduces the divided data with the added reference time information from the recording medium. A rearranging circuit rearranges and outputs the reproduced divided data on a time axis according to the reproduced reference time information such that a time interval between adjacent divided data as outputted from the rearranging circuit is equal to a time interval between respective output reference times of the adjacent divided data.

    摘要： In an apparatus for recording and reproducing a burst-like digital information signal, a methd capable of predicting the time of occurrence of a header indicating the head of the first data of a digital information signal during its reproduction from a recording medium. The digital signal includes a plurality of data blocks each including a header indicative of the head of the block, and each header includes the address of the block. During recording of the digital signal on the recording medium, a plurality of headers which are substantially the same as the headers of the data blocks and including addresses having given relations with the addresses of the data blocks are inserted in a clock regenerating signal recorded before the digital signal for regenerating the clocks for the signal. The headers are inserted at a period equal to the length of each data block so as to be synchronized with the headers of the data blocks.
