Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display system includes a first display panel having a first surface, a second surface on a side opposite to the first surface, and a first display area that is visibly recognizable from the first surface side and the second surface side, and an optical element overlapping with a part of the first display area. The optical element includes at least one of a polarizer absorbing linearly polarized light and a retardation element imparting a ½-wavelength phase difference to transmitted linearly polarized light.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first transparent substrate, a second transparent substrate, a liquid crystal layer, a third transparent substrate having a first side surface, a second side surface, and an inner surface, a transparent layer arranged on the inner surface, and light emitting elements. The transparent layer includes a band-shaped portion extending from the first side surface toward the second side surface and a frame-shaped portion formed in a frame shape surrounding the band-shaped portion. The band-shaped portion is separated from the frame-shaped portion. A width of the band-shaped portion on a first side surface side is larger than a width of the band-shaped portion on a second side surface side.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a sealant formed bonding the first substrate with the second substrate, a liquid crystal layer surrounded by the sealant, and a light emitting module. The liquid crystal layer is arranged over a display area where an image is displayed, a first area between the display area and the first portion, and a second area between the display area and the second portion, in plan view. A first width of the first area is larger than a width of the second area.

The first substrate includes a transparent substrate, a scanning line, a signal line crossing the scanning line, a switching element electrically connected to the scanning line and the signal line, an organic insulating film overlapping the switching element, and a pixel electrode electrically connected to the switching element. A thickness of the organic insulating film located between the transparent substrate and the pixel electrode is less than a thickness of the organic insulating film overlapping the switching element.
