A method of data transmission using HARQ is provided. The method includes transmitting an uplink data, receiving an ACK/NACK signal for the uplink data, keeping the uplink data in a HARQ buffer when the ACK/NACK signal is an ACK signal, and retransmitting the uplink data when an uplink scheduling information for retransmission of the uplink data is received. In the present invention, a transmission error in an ACK/NACK signal is promptly detected, and thus data can be transmitted at a high speed.

A method for saving power in a multi-carrier wideband wireless access system is provided. A method for saving the power of a receiver in a multi-carrier wireless communication system includes acquiring multi-carrier information from a transmitter on a primary carrier, entering one or more secondary carriers satisfying a predetermined power saving mode entry condition out of one or more secondary carriers included in the multi-carrier information into a power saving mode, and receiving data during a listening interval according to the power saving mode on the one or more secondary carriers entering the power saving mode. The multi-carrier information includes at least one of information about a plurality of available carriers, information indicating the primary carrier and the one or more secondary carriers out of the plurality of available carriers, and information about the power saving mode entry condition of the one or more secondary carriers.

A method for performing ranging is disclosed. The method for performing ranging in a wireless communication system which simultaneously supports a legacy system and a new system includes a method for additionally allocating a ranging channel to a zone other than a legacy zone and a method for re-using a legacy ranging channel within the legacy zone. When the legacy ranging channel is re-used, ranging codes may be shared by a legacy mobile station and a new system mobile station or may be separated on a ranging code domain. Limited radio resources can be effectively employed by re-using the legacy ranging channel.

A method of allocating a paging carrier in a multi-carrier environment is disclosed. The method of allocating the paging carrier includes receiving a first message including first allocation information of the paging carrier, transmitting a second message for requesting entry into an idle mode to a base station; and receiving a third message including second allocation information of a changed paging carrier from the base station. At this time, the paging carrier includes a paging channel out of multiple carriers including one or more carriers.

A resource allocation method of a relay station in a wireless communication system employing the relay station is provided. The method includes: receiving information on a resource allocation pattern for an access link and a backhaul link of a first frequency band; and determining a resource allocation pattern for an access link and a backhaul link of a second frequency band on the basis of the resource allocation pattern of the first frequency band, wherein the first frequency band is any one of an uplink frequency band and a downlink frequency band, and the second frequency band is a remaining one of the uplink frequency band and the downlink frequency band.

A closed-loop antenna switching method, a reference signal allocating method, and a feedback signal transmitting method for the same are disclosed. Namely, by transmitting a reference signal via the plurality of transmitting antennas via the antenna switching for reference signal transmission for each prescribed multiple period of an antenna selection period, efficient antenna index information can be fed back. By setting an antenna switching period to a prescribed multiple of an antenna selection period, it is able to prevent power loss and data decoding performance degradation. And, the present invention includes transmitting a sounding reference signal (SRS) for each band selection period via at least one of the plurality of transmitting antennas and transmitting at least one data demodulation reference signal (DMRS) between the band selection periods via an antenna for not transmitting data by reference signal transmission antenna switching.
