Abstract:
A method for suspending inclusions in an acidic or alcoholic liquid composition is provided. The method includes the steps of preparing a pre-gel solution including gellan gum in water, providing a liquid composition having inclusions, incorporating the pre-gel solution into the liquid composition, and acidifying the liquid composition to produce a beverage and suspend the inclusions in the beverage. Alternatively, the liquid composition can be provided without inclusions and the inclusions may be added after the pre-gel solution is incorporated into the liquid composition to form a suspending solution or after the suspending solution is acidified to produce a beverage.
Abstract:
An endless power transmission V-belt construction and method of making the same are provided, the belt construction being formed mainly of polymeric material and having rounded top and bottom teeth respectively extending along the length of the top and bottom surfaces of the belt construction, the belt construction comprising a tension section having the top surface, a compression section having the bottom surface, and a load-carrying section disposed intermediate the tension section and the compression section. The bottom to top tooth pitch ratio of the belt construction, the bottom to top tooth depth ratio thereof, and the belt thickness to flex thickness ratio thereof may be varied in specific instances to optimize performance in specific uses.
Abstract:
A jelly-type substance incorporating a water-insoluble color is provided. The colored jelly-type substance can be incorporated in a liquid composition having an acidic pH between about 2.5 and 6.0 and the color will remain incorporated in the jelly-type substance. A liquid composition including the jelly-type substances and a method for incorporating the water-soluble colors in the jelly-type substance are also provided.
Abstract:
An endless traction belt and a method for its manufacture are provided. The traction belt has a main body made primarily of elastomeric material and is adapted to be moved in an endless path having a longitudinal axis. The main body comprises a substantially smooth inner surface and a ground engaging outer surface having a plurality of traction increasing portions or teeth. The teeth also act as sprocket engaging means for driving the belt.

The quotient of the top width to belt thickness is approximately 2.0, the quotient of the bottom to top tooth pitch is approximately 1.40, the quotient of the bottom to top tooth depth is approximately 1.77 and the quotient of the belt thickness to flex thickness is approximately 3.98.
Abstract:
A light fixture having a construction enabling on/off operation with a wall-mounted switch in a circuit by itself or with other fixtures and to be upgraded in “plug and play” fashion to operate independently of other fixtures in the circuit or for stepped dimming. Modular construction provides safety and ease of maintenance in that ballasts are replaced without exposure to internal wiring and provides temperature management by isolating temperature-sensitive components from high temperatures while placing the lamps in an enclosure in which temperature is contained to operate efficiently. If passive thermal management is not enough to maximize operating efficiency and/or service life, the fixture is upgradeable in plug and play fashion to active thermal management. Ballast modules can be equipped with a microcontroller for collecting operational data that is harvested and used to optimize switching to evenly age lamps and electronics or determine energy consumption.
Abstract:
A modular light fixture having a construction that enables the same fixture to be used for standard on/off operation under control of a wall-mounted switch in a circuit by itself and/or with other fixtures and to be upgraded in “plug and play” fashion to operate independently of other fixtures in the same circuit and/or for stepped dimming. The modular construction of the fixture also allows for safety and ease of maintenance in that ballasts can be replaced without quickly and conveniently without exposing an electrician or maintenance worker to the internal wires of the fixture. The construction of the fixture also provides temperature management by isolating the temperature-sensitive components of the fixture from high temperatures while placing the lamps of the fixture in an enclosure, or shroud, in which temperature is contained so that the lamps operate efficiently. In the event the passive thermal management provided by the construction of the fixture is not enough to maximize the operating efficiency of the fixture and/or the service life of its components, the fixture is upgradeable, again in plug and play fashion, to provide active thermal management.

Abstract:
A foam forming composition contains a freshening agent and a foam-forming anionic surfactant in amount sufficient to form a foam when dispensed from a pressurized vessel, but in an amount insufficient to effect fabric cleaning. The foam provides a visible means for the user to observe the area of application and thus avoids the likelihood of over- or under-spraying. An anti-foaming agent is included in the foam forming composition to provide for a quick breaking and fast drying foam. The freshener agent is applied as a visible foam to carpets or other fabrics and the foam quickly disappears and dries and requires no vacuuming, abrasion or scrubbing.

Alternatively, the liquid composition can be provided without inclusions and the inclusions may be added after the pre-gel solution is incorporated into the liquid composition. Upon standing, the pre-gel solution will cause the inclusions to suspend in the liquid composition. Acidic or alcoholic liquid compositions having suspended particulates or inclusions are also provided.
