    摘要: A launch and disconnect clutch for the electric motor of a P2 hybrid powertrain is compact and provides improved operation. The clutch is mounted between the engine and transmission in the space formerly occupied by the torque converter. The clutch assembly is configured so that actuation, compensation and cooling are provided by only two oil channels. The clutch utilizes single-sided reaction plates which achieve high clutch gain thereby providing high torque capacity under electric operation and improved launch shudder characteristics.

    摘要: A system for providing pressurized hydraulic fluid includes an engine driven main pump and an electrical motor driven auxiliary pump. The auxiliary pump provides hydraulic fluid at line pressure to shift control subsystems during a vehicle launch while the main pump provides hydraulic fluid to cooler or lubrication subsystems during the vehicle launch. A pressure regulation valve regulates the pressure of the hydraulic fluid from the main pump. Once the main pump reaches a critical speed, the main pump provides hydraulic fluid at line pressure to the hydraulic control system and the auxiliary pump is turned off.

The inner peripheral edge and the outer peripheral edge of the disk are deflected in opposite directions relative to each other by the angled plates. The maximum deflection of the disk is defined by the angled plates. The stiffness of the disk increases monotonically with the deflection of the disk resulting in smooth clutch application.

    摘要: A method for reducing oscillation in an automotive transmission system includes detecting a tip-out of an accelerator pedal position. Responsive to the detected tip-out, a pressure command is adjusted for a selected range clutch within the transmission system so as to reduce the pressure of the selected range clutch from a normal pressure level to a low pressure level, thereby producing a desired gear train slip in the transmission system. Then, the pressure command of the selected range clutch is re-adjusted after a determined period of time at the low pressure level so as to increase the pressure of the selected range clutch from the low pressure level, and thereby eliminating the gear train slip.

    摘要: A magnetorheological fluid clutch has a pair of radially spaced magnetic core members that cooperate with an input rotor to form a pair of working gaps filled with magnetorheological fluid (MRF). An encapsulated electric coil disposed in a radially inner of the two magnetic cores is energized to establish a magnetic field through the cores, the input rotor and the MRF to establish a torque transmitting relation therebetween. The magnetic cores are secured to a channel ring and a housing in both of which a plurality of cooling channels are formed. The channels in the housing are in fluid communication with an input path to a serpentine flow path formed between the radially outer magnetic core and the housing to direct liquid cooling flow thereto. A return path from the serpentine flow path is in communication with the channels in the channel ring to direct liquid cooling flow therefrom. Further cooling passages are formed in the housing, channel ring, and radially inner magnetic core to direct liquid cooling through an annular chamber containing the encapsulated electric coil. The liquid cooling flow from the annular chamber and the channels in the channel ring are commingled and returned to a reservoir.
