Abstract:
Scaffolding transport carts for transporting scaffolding components from a jobsite delivery location to the location of scaffolding erection. Exemplary scaffolding transport cart embodiments may be moved and guided manually, or moved under the power of a motive device but under user control. A fully remote-controlled embodiment may also be provided. In any case, a scaffolding transport cart embodiment may dimensioned such that the scaffolding transport cart can fit through a standard doorway, even when loaded with scaffolding components.

Abstract:
A flexible, circular, elastomer air foil that is a unitary structure has a central portion that droops downward when the foil is resting on a horizontal flat surface surrounded by an annular portion that is then convex on top and concave on the bottom when resting on a thicker perimetrical rim portion.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for noninvasive sampling. More particularly, the method and apparatus relate to control of motion of an optical sample probe interface relative to a tissue sample site. A dynamic probe interface, is used to collect spectra of a targeted sample, control positioning of the sample probe relative to the tissue sample in terms of at least one of x-, y-, and z-axes, and/or control of sample tissue displacement to minimize spectral variations resulting from the sampling process and increase analyte property estimation precision and accuracy.
Abstract:
The invention involves the monitoring of a biological parameter through a compact analyzer. The preferred apparatus is a spectrometer based system that is attached continuously or semi-continuously to a human subject and collects spectral measurements that are used to determine a biological parameter in the sampled tissue. The preferred target analyze is glucose. The preferred analyzer is a near-IR based glucose analyzer for determining the glucose concentration in the body.
Abstract:
A solid state vehicle securing and lockout prevention system for an automobile having power operated accessories such as automatic door lock, power door windows, power roof window, power trunk release, power hood release, power antenna control, and a horn selectively identifies authorized users to enable operation of the ignition, prevents lockout of the operator, and secures the vehicle and its accessories upon departing from the vehicle. A card reader for use with encoded cards is utilized to enable the system. A mechanical switch at the ignition assembly is utilized to detect the presence of the key in the ignition for lockout prevention by reopening any locked door and sounding the horn to alert the operator should the key remain in the ignition inadvertently. The mechanical door switches are utilized to determine whether to activate the vehicle securing controls for the door locks, windows, and sunroof in timed sequences. A disabling device for each of the respective controls for the door lock, roof window, door window, and antenna is also provided for the valet parking attendant. A digital counter is also provided for timing all of the digital control functions of the system and is reset upon each instant the driver door is opened. A timing device to disable the control elements upon a predetermined maximum time period for the purpose of system shut down is also provided.
Abstract:
A jacketed pipe assembly of inner and outer tubular members having respective inner and outer corrugated metal tubes arranged in spaced relationship to define therebetween a fluid-circulating chamber adapted for the circulation therethrough of a temperature controlling fluid for aiding in the flow of a processing fluid through the inner tubular member. Coupling sleeves are connected by continuous welds to opposite ends of the inner corrugated tube, and means are connected to the outer ends of the outer corrugated tube and to the respective coupling sleeves to define therebetween respective opposite ends of the fluid-circulating chamber. The continuous connecting welds are surrounded by the fluid-circulating chamber, but are isolated therefrom by being enclosed within respective enclosures which are vented exteriorly of the pipe assembly so that cross-contamination between the inner corrugated tube and the surrounding fluid-circulating chamber will be prevented in the event of rupture of the continuous welds.

Abstract:
A near IR spectrometer-based analyzer attaches continuously or semi-continuously to a human subject and collects spectral measurements for determining a biological parameter in the sampled tissue, such as glucose concentration. The analyzer includes an optical system optimized to target the cutaneous layer of the sampled tissue so that interference from the adipose layer is minimized. The optical system includes at least one optical probe. Spacing between optical paths and detection fibers of each probe and between probes is optimized to minimize sampling of the adipose subcutaneous layer and to maximize collection of light backscattered from the cutaneous layer. Penetration depth is optimized by limiting range of distances between paths and detection fibers. Minimizing sampling of the adipose layer greatly reduces interference contributed by the fat band in the sample spectrum, increasing signal-to-noise ratio. Providing multiple probes also minimizes interference in the sample spectrum due to placement errors.
Abstract:
To aid in maintaining at a desired temperature a fluid being propelled through a fluid-circulating pump, a jacket means is provided which has a hollow housing of heat-conductive material substantially surrounding the body of the pump and through which a temperature controlling fluid is circulated in heat-transferring relation to the body of the pump.
