    摘要: A broadband signal tap includes a reversible directional coupler and a make-before-break signal continuity bridge. The electronic circuitry of the directional coupler is provided on a daughterboard that is removably connected to a motherboard in the tap. The removable daughterboard has a plurality of symmetrically arranged connection means and the motherboard has a plurality of symmetrically arranged connection points for accepting connections with the plurality of symmetrically arranged outputs on the daughterboard. The connections on the motherboard and on the daughterboard are physically and functionally symmetrical, thereby permitting the daughterboard to be reversed. The daughterboard is maintained in a housing. The housing has elongated fingers which, when pushed downward onto the motherboard, penetrate through retaining holes in motherboard, thereby retaining the housing on the motherboard. An electrically conductive continuity bridge is provided on the bottom of the motherboard for maintaining electrical continuity of the broadband signal when the daughterboard is removed from the motherboard. The continuity bridge includes a unitary spring metal having a center portion and two end portions. Upon connection of the housing to the motherboard, the elongated fingers push against and urge the end portions of the continuity bridge away from connections on the motherboard, thus disengaging the electrically conductive continuity bridge. Conversely, when the housing is removed from the motherboard, the end portions of the continuity bridge make contact with connections on the motherboard before the connectors of the daughterboard are disconnected from the motherboard, thereby maintaining continuity of the broadband signal through the tap when the daughterboard is disconnected from the motherboard.

    摘要: A continuity bridge in a broadband signal tap for providing a make-before-break connection of an input terminal to an output terminal of the tap. The broadband signal tap comprises a housing and a cover that is removably connected to the housing. The interior of the housing has an input terminal for receiving a signal from the feeder cable and an output terminal for returning the signal to the feeder cable. The cover includes circuitry for splitting the signal and delivering a portion thereof to at least one subscriber port on the cover. The cover has an input socket and an output socket, each being removably engaged with and electrically connected to the input and output terminals, respectively, of the housing. The continuity bridge in the housing connects the input terminal to the output terminal upon the removal of the cover from the housing prior to the disengagement of the sockets from the terminals. The continuity bridge thus provides a make-before-break connection of the input terminal to the output terminal, thereby ensuring that there is no discontinuity of signal flow through the tap upon the removal of the cover from the housing.

    摘要: A Priority Rule Search Technique (PRST) heuristic computer controlled algorithm is disclosed that schedules single project, single resource and multiple project, multiple resource constrained project scheduling problems. Primary areas of utility include construction, manufacturing and research and development projects. The invention can schedule tasks/activities for large scale, multiple resource and multiple project networks that have different network and resource constraint characteristics while providing balance among different project network characteristics in order to provide an effective solution for a variety of network types. The novel PRST algorithm combines four heuristic rules (ACTM, LFT, MGRD and MACTRES) to determine a priority value for each job task/activity. The priority values are ranked to determine an optimum schedule of all job tasks and activities to complete the entire project. The invention incorporates the time (ACTM and LFT) and resource (MGRD and MACTRES) characteristics of project activities into a priority rule based search heuristic to determine an activity's priority for scheduling. The PRST scheduling invention is composed of four priority rules that are individually weighted and combined. The first two priority rules are ACTIM and Late Finish Time (LFT) heuristics. The second two priority rules allow for the allocating of limited resources to activities that cannot be scheduled concurrently. One of these priority rules designated Multiple Greatest Resource Demand (MGRD) modifies a Greatest Resource Demand heuristic to accommodate a multiple resource case. MGRD is scaled measure of the resource demanded for each activity. The second priority rule is designated Multiple ACTRESS (MACTRES) which modifies a ACTRES heuristic to accommodate the multiple resource case. MACTRES is a measure of the time and resources controlled by the activity through the network. Alternatively, the schedule of each of the job tasks/activities can be scheduled by ranking priority values based separately on MACTRES computations or MGRD calculations.
