The present invention involves the introduction of a new terminal class, referred to herein as an accessory class, to a WLAN network. The present invention allows for direct transmissions between accessories and terminals as a part of the service period. According to the present invention, the terminal transmits a request for stream setup to an access point. The access point provides a response to the terminal, after which the terminal prepares an accessory stream setup request to be transmitted to the accessory based upon the received response.
