Abstract:
A method and template enable the testing of fusion joints of plastic pipes to be conducted by a single operator in the field at the welding site by the efficient and precise extraction from the joints to be tested of a number of high quality tensile coupons. The coupons are tested to failure in a field-suitable, well controlled, self contained, tensile testing apparatus. A narrowing bow-tie-like pattern of the coupon ensures that the failure of the coupon in the tensile test will occur at the narrowest section of the coupon. The template can be visually aligned with the joint to ensure that it is the joint that will be tested.

An enhanced personal firewall system having an inter-firewall connection listener which binds to a specified communications port and listens for inbound and/or outbound connection requests; and an inter-firewall controller which establishes a trusted communications through a local firewall and a remote firewall by exchanging public keys, a signed trusted computer firewall request, and using the keys to determine if a local key storage indicates previous authorization to trusted communications. If not, then a user of the targeted resource is notified and prompted to authorize the access. If so, then the firewall rules protecting the targeted resource are modified, even if temporarily, to allow the requesting firewall to have trusted access.
Abstract:
A method, system and program product for collecting web metric data is disclosed. The method includes inserting a script at the top of each web page to be metered, sending a web page request to a web server for a web page, loading the web page while executing the script inserted within the web page for collecting web usage data without substantially increasing web page load time. The method further includes establishing an asynchronous connection to a metric server chosen for sending the web usage data collected and transmitting to the metric server the web usage data collected as part of a record request using a method such that the record request is not cached at an intermediate proxy. The method further includes contacting an alternate metric server if the metric server chosen is not available or cannot record the web usage data.

An improved pallet may include a support deck with an upper load contacting surface and a lower ground facing surface that may each be positioned along a first sidewall and an opposingly positioned second sidewall. One or more ground contacting legs may be coupled to or integrated in the first sidewall and to the second sidewall. A first deck edge may be coupled to the support deck and may extend between the first sidewall and the second sidewall. A second deck edge may also be coupled to the support deck and may be opposingly positioned to the first deck edge, and the second edge may extend between the first sidewall and the second sidewall. Preferably, the pallet may comprise one or more sidewall recessed pockets which may be coupled to or positioned along at least one sidewall and/or one or more edge recessed pockets which may be coupled to at least one deck edge.

An adenovirus, including adenoviral capsid proteins, and a replication-defective adenoviral vector that includes a 5′ retroviral LTR nucleic acid sequence, a 3′ retroviral LTR nucleic acid sequence, a nucleic acid sequence encoding a portion of a retroviral envelope protein adjacent to either the 5′ LTR or the 3′ LTR nucleic acid sequence, a retroviral packaging sequence and a nucleic acid sequence encoding a transgene located between the 5′ LTR and the 3′ LTR is provided. Host cells infected with this adenovirus are also provided. An adenoviral vector is provided that includes an adenoviral polynucleotide sequence comprising a nucleic acid encoding a transgene, a retroviral packaging signal, a 5′ and a 3′ retroviral LTR, and a portion of a retroviral envelope polypeptide, wherein the adenoviral polynucleotide sequence does not encode one or more of E1, E3 or E4. A method for transforming a cell is also provided using a virus or a vector of the invention, as is a method for introducing a transgene into a cell that is not able to produce viral particles with a single viral vector. A method is also provided for preventing or treating disorder in a subject using the adenoviral vectors of the invention. A pharmaceutical composition is also provided that includes an adenoviral vector of the invention and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
Abstract:
System, method and program for identifying a subset of a multiplicity of source networks. The subset including one or more source networks which have sent messages to one of a plurality of destination locations having a same IP address. For each of the multiplicity of source networks, a determination is made whether there are fewer intervening hops from the source network to the one destination location than from the source network to other of the plurality of destination locations. If so, the source network is included in the subset. If not, the source network is not included in the subset. One application of the present invention is to identify a source of a denial of service attack. After the subset is identified, filters can be sequentially applied to block messages from respective source networks in the subset to determine which source network in the subset is sending the messages.
