摘要： Methods and devices for connecting an insertion device to an implant. The insertion device includes a body having first and second ends. The first end may be configured to connect with the implant. The first end may be selectively positionable between orientations to provide for the connection. Methods of positioning the implant within the patient generally include connecting the insertion device to the implant. The insertion device can then be manipulating to position the implant within the patient. The insertion device is removed from the implant once positioned, or may be reconnected at another location to further position the implant.

The insertion body can be used for moving and positioning the implant within the body. In one embodiment, implant is mounted to the end of the body prior to movement and positioning. Fill material is maintained within the supply reservoir. Delivery device functions to move the fill material from the supply reservoir, through the insertion body, and to the implant. The device thus provides for both movement and placement of the implant, and a mechanism for delivering fill material to the implant.

摘要： The present application discloses intervertebral implants and methods of using the implants. The implants may include inferior and superior surfaces, and a sidewall that together form the body of the implant. One or both of the inferior and superior surfaces may include tapered surfaces to facilitate distraction of adjacent vertebral members. The multiple tapered sections allows insertion via multiple surgical approaches using a single implant thereby negating the need to employ a plurality of approach-specific implants as is conventional.

An anchor including a bone-engaging feature to engage the vertebral members may be operatively coupled to the gear. The gear teeth may be accessible from outside the body to rotate the gear. The anchor may be movable substantially along the rotation axis between a first position in which the bone-engaging feature is retracted below the outer surface and a second position in which the bone-engaging feature is extended above the outer surface.
