Methods, systems, and products for random access for processing messages in a message queue that include creating a map relating message identification and message position, including adding an entry in the map whenever a message enters the queue; instantiating a plurality of consumers for the messages; and consuming, with the consumers, the messages in dependence upon the map. In typical embodiments, the plurality of consumers includes a particular number of consumers and such embodiments typically include assigning an ordinal value to each consumer and consuming the messages further comprises identifying the messages to be processed by each consumer in dependence upon the ordinal values, the number of consumers, and the message positions.

A method and apparatus for performing case insensitive searches of relational databases are provided. With the method and apparatus, an additional attribute value is provided for tables of a relational database that can be defined at table creation time and identifies portions of the tables of the relational database to be either case sensitive or case insensitive. Based on the setting of this attribute, the relational database engine is signaled to either perform case sensitive or case insensitive searches against the corresponding column of the table in the relational database. If the attribute is set, such that case insensitive searching of the column is signaled to the database engine, the database engine automatically generates either an uppercase or lowercase index corresponding to each value in the column. In response to a search request, the index is compared to a corresponding case version of the search term. If there is a match, the original entry in the column, i.e. the version of the value actually stored in the relational database table, is returned as a result of the search of the relational database.

System, apparatus, arid method for automatically detecting power-down, disconnection, or other failure of a SCSI bus connected device and isolating the SCSI node from the rest of the computer environment. Sensing a problem at the device node and substituting a buss termination circuit for the termination that had been provided by the device. Sensing the reconnection or power-up of a device at a SCSI bus mode and simultaneously reconnects the device's own terminator and removes the termination provided at disconnection. Particularly useful in clustered computer environments, such as for example, for data base server systems in which a plurality of server computers share a common data base comprised of one or more disk drives on a SCSI bus. Permits any of the servers to be disconnected from the clusters system or network and be repaired or replaced without powering-down or otherwise disabling the entire system or other devices on the system. One embodiment provides a switching circuit including a first input/output port having a plurality of first, port terminals, a second input/output port having a plurality of second port terminals, a terminator circuit having predetermined electrical characteristics, a reference voltage generator,. a voltage comparator circuit for comparing an externally provided first voltage with the reference voltage and for generating a switch control signal, and a switch for coupling the first port terminals to the terminator circuit and decoupling the first port terminals from the second port terminals to isolate the first port terminals from the second port terminals in response to receipt of a state of the switch control signal and for coupling the first port terminals to the second port terminals in response receipt of another state of the switch control signal.

Systems, methods, and devices for reducing glare or pixilation associated with LEDs are disclosed. The disclosure relates to a light module that includes a cover panel that reduces contrast in the light emitted by LEDs. The cover panel can be mounted on a substrate which can include a plurality of LEDs. Apertures in the cover panel are aligned each of the LEDs and any optic that may be disposed over each LED. A first portion of the light emitted from the LEDs passes through the optic only and into the environment to be illuminated. A second portion of the light emitted from the LEDs passes through both the optic and the cover panel before passing into the environment to be illuminated. The cover panel can be diffuse and can include various characteristics including textures, objects, and angled surfaces that assist in scattering light.

Progress is determined for downloading a Web Page having included objects. The method includes accessing the Web Page, and estimating a total size for the Web Page. The estimating includes reading file sizes for the objects. The file size for such an object has an association with a reference in the Web Page to the object. The reference includes a tag which has a first attribute with a source address for the object. The method further includes loading the objects for the Web Page, and presenting the estimated total size in comparison to an accumulated loaded amount of the Web Page objects. The comparison is updated at respective instances during the loading to dynamically indicate downloading progress. In another aspect, the presenting includes presenting the comparison on a browser program bar, and presenting the browser program bar on a task bar.

Provided is a method for dynamic transform and load of data from a data source defined by metadata into a data store defined by metadata. A business rule set is created (116) based on (a) a business rule template definition, (b) metadata defining at least a portion of data of a data source, and (c) metadata defining a data store. Data from the data source is transformed (118) based on the business rule set. The data is loaded (120) into the data store based on the business rule set. The transforming and loading are repeated (122) until all desired transforming and loading of data from the data source to the data store has been accomplished. The method may be carried out through execution of a computer programming product containing suitable logic. A system (100) for dynamic transform and load is also provided.
