摘要: Apparatus for providing self-propelled motion to a medication cart comprises a driving unit which is mounted to a base of the medication cart. The driving unit includes a drive wheel which is movable between extended and retracted positions. In the extended position, the drive wheel engages the floor to provide self-propelled motion to the medication cart. In the retracted position, the medication cart is freely movable on supporting castor wheels. Foot operated pedals are provided to move the drive wheel between the extended and retracted positions. Forward and reverse motion of the cart is provided by a rocker switch which is positioned on a top panel of the cart.

The apparatus comprises a flexible, substantially inelastic belt wrapped around the patient's chest and attached to a force converter. The force converter converts a downwardly directed force into a chestward resultant, which depresses the sternum, and two belt tightening resultants. The force converter comprises a pair of arm assemblies, each having a pair of spaced arms, which are pivotably mounted to a base. The base is positioned near the patient's sternum and the ends of the belt attach to one end of each arm assembly. The opposite, handle ends of the arm assemblies are depressed toward the chest causing tightening of the belt and compression of the chest cavity.

摘要: A continuous passive motion device comprises a leg support frame actuated by alternately, pneumatically inflating and deflating a bladder assembly. The assembly includes a series of interconnected bladders associated with a pump and a three-way solenoid valve, and provided with flaps secured at a common point which act as a hinge. The secured flaps force movement of the bladders in an arcuate path during inflation and deflation, providing an operating force against pivotal components of the device thus actuating it. A photointerrupter control device is provided that controls the angular limits of the desired therapy.
