Abstract:
A method and system for authenticating in a wireless communication system. The system includes a Mobile Terminal (MT), an authenticator, and an Authentication, Authorization, Accounting (AAA) server. When the authenticator requests NAI information for authentication, the MT adds an authentication code to the NAI, and sends a response message including the NAI information to the authenticator. The authenticator relays the NAI to which the authentication code is added, to the AAA server. The AAA server extracts the authentication code from the NAI information, verifies the authentication of the MT, generates a new authentication key, and transmits the new authentication key to the authenticator.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for providing a Quality of Service (QoS)-based service in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes providing a Mobile Station (MS) with at least one QoS plan indicating a price policy for a QoS acceleration service having a higher QoS than a default QoS designated for a user of the MS in response to a request from the MS, providing the MS with an authorized token and a QoS quota based on a selected QoS plan in response to a purchase request of the MS, providing the MS with service contents selected by the user through a radio bearer for the QoS acceleration service, notifying the MS, if a usage of the QoS acceleration service reaches a threshold, of an impending expiration of the QoS acceleration service, and notifying the MS of the expiration of the QoS acceleration service.
Abstract:
A system is capable of authenticating a service per Machine to Machine (M2M) device between an M2M service provider and a mobile communication operator. The system includes an authentication server for generating an M2M device IDentifier (ID), a first authentication key, and an M2M service provider ID per M2M device, The authentication server also generates a second authentication key, a first hash function value, and a first random variable based on the M2M device ID, the first authentication key, and the M2M service provider ID. and transmitting the second authentication key, the first hash function, and the first random variable to an M2M agent to an M2M agent.
Abstract:
A method and a system for relocating an Access Service Network (ASN) of a Mobile Station (MS) in a communication system are provided. In the method, when an MS that operates in an idle mode moves from a first ASN to a second ASN, the MS transmits a ranging request message to a base station of the second ASN in order to update a location. The base station transmits a location update request message to an ASN-GateWay (GW) of the second ASN according to the ranging request message. When the location update request message is received, the ASN-GW transmits a relocation notify message including type information for location update to the first ASN. The first ASN transmits a relocation notify response message including paging information to the ASN-GW according to the relocation notify message.
Abstract:
An authentication method and apparatus in a communication system are provided. In a method for authenticating a first node at a second authentication server in a communication system comprising the first node registered to a first authentication server and a second node registered to the second authentication server, an authentication request message requesting authentication of the first node is received from the second node, the authentication request message is transmitted to the first authentication server, and upon receipt of an authentication success message indicating successful authentication of the first node from the first authentication server, the authentication success message is transmitted to the second node.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for transmitting and receiving a paging message in a wireless communication system are provided. A Base Station (BS) transmits, to a Mobile Station (MS) in an idle mode, a Paging Group IDentification Information (PGID_Info) message including paging group information for a paging group to which the BS belongs, and frequency band-specific paging carrier information for indicating at least one of paging carriers included in each of a plurality of frequency bands operated by the BS. The BS determines a paging carrier for transmitting the paging message among paging carriers included in a frequency band supported by the MS, and transmits the paging message to the MS using the determined paging carrier. By doing so, reception of the paging message in the frequency band supported by the MS is guaranteed, thereby preventing the unnecessary location update procedure.
Abstract:
A method for supporting an idle mode handover of an Single Radio Mobile Station (SR MS) by a target Access Service Network GateWay (ASN_GW) in a heterogeneous wireless communication system is disclosed. The method includes, upon detecting that an operation mode of the SR MS is to be changed from an idle mode to an active mode, acquiring an address of a Home Agent (HA) of the SR MS from a preregistered ASN_GW with which the SR MS has performed a preregistration operation, upon detecting that a Base Station (BS) is to set up a path with the preregistered ASN_GW, transmitting a message, including the address of the HA and requesting to set the target ASN_GW as a new Foreign Agent (FA) of the SR MS, to the preregistered ASN_GW, and upon receiving a message, requesting to register the target ASN_GW as the new FA of the SR MS, from the preregistered ASN_GW, setting up a data path with the HA, and then registering the target ASN_GW as the new FA of the SR MS.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for supporting a Short Message Service (SMS) of a Mobile Station (MS) during an idle mode in a wireless communication system are provided. An MS operation method for supporting an SMS in a wireless communication system includes receiving an SMS message from a Base Station (BS) through a ranging message in an idle mode, upon receiving the SMS message from the BS, starting a timer, while the timer operates, waiting UpLink (UL) resource allocation for transmission of an ACKnowledge (ACK) message about the SMS message, and upon being allocated a UL resource for the ACK message transmission, and transmitting the ACK message using the UL resource.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for performing device authentication and user authentication in a mobile communication network are provided. A connection is established between an MS and an SRNC that controls communications of the MS through a BS. The SRNC receives a D-MSK for device authentication of the MS from an AAA server that has completed an EAP negotiation with the MS and stores the D-MSK by the SRNC, when the BS triggers an EAP authentication after the connection establishment. The SRNC receives an R-MSK from an AG and stores the R-MSK after the connection establishment. The R-MSK is generated using a U-MSK for user authentication of the MS received from the AAA server by the AG. The SRNC generates a PMK for use during a session using at least one of the D-MSK and the R-MSK, and one of the BS and the SRNC generate a key set using the PMK, for use in at least one of data encryption, data integrity check, and session management during the session.
Abstract:
An operation method of a terminal in a wireless access system is provided. The method includes, while keeping an idle state without confirming the existence or non-existence of downlink data, determining to transit into a wakeup state, performing signaling for the transition into the wakeup state, acquiring information on discarded downlink data transmission through the signaling, and receiving the downlink data using the information on the downlink data transmission.
