A process for producing polymers of .alpha., .omega.-unsaturated conjugated compounds, which includes reacting a compound of the formula (I),B--A--C (I)whereinB denotes a sp.sup.3 -hybridized carbon atom carrying at least one hydrogen atom,A denotes a conjugated-.pi.-system or a --CH.dbd.CH--group, andC denotes a carbon atom carrying at least one leaving group,with a base in a solvent. On reaction of the base with the compound of the formula (I) a polymer is formed as a by-product essentially soluble in the solvent and a solid is formed as a by-product which is essentially insoluble in the solvent. According to the process, chemically and thermally stable, high molecular weight polymers of high purity and high regularity are obtained in good yield. If the products of the process carry groups that undergo elimination, forming double bonds, high quality electroluminescent materials can be prepared.

This reaction is characterized in that, on reaction of the base with the compound of the formula (I), a polymer is formed which is essentially soluble in said solvent, and a salt is formed as a by-product, which is essentially soluble in the solvent. That solvent comprises a compound selected from the group consisting of a) amides of the general formula (II) R.sup.5 --CO--NR.sup.6 H; b) amines of the general formula (III) R.sup.7.sub.2 --N--R.sup.8 ; c) sulfones of the general formula (IV) R.sup.8 --SO.sub.2 --R.sup.9 ; d) sulfoxides of the general formula (V) R.sup.8 --SO--R.sup.9 ; and e) a solvent from the group consisting of alcohols, polyalcohols, glycols and polyethers, where R.sup.5, R.sup.6, R.sup.7, R.sup.8, and R.sup.9 are as defined in the application. The process provides chemically and thermally stable, high molecular weight polymers of high purity and high regularity, in good yield. When the products of the novel process carry groups that undergo elimination to form double bonds, high quality electroluminescent materials can be prepared.

The present invention provides a conjugated polymer with provided thereon at least one molecular imprinted polymer (MIP) and a method for preparing such a polymer. The conjugate polymer provided with at least one MIP according to the invention combines both transducer properties and selectivity properties in one single material. Therefore, it is particularly suitable for use in chemo- or bio-sensors. Furthermore, the conjugate polymer provided with at least one MIP may be used in electronic devices and in chromatography, molecular recognition, selective sample enrichment or in catalysis.

The present invention relates in a first aspect to methods for producing a nanofibres-containing layer for use as an active layer in an organic electronic device. The method comprising the steps of: a) first heating up a nanofibre-forming polymer in a solvent at a temperature T1, then b) cooling said solution down to a temperature T2 at a rate less than 40° C./h thereby forming a dispersion comprising crystalline nanofibres of said nanofibre-forming polymer, then c) raising the temperature of said dispersion to a temperature T3 higher than T2, but lower than said temperature T1, and then d) coating said dispersion on a substrate at said temperature T3 thereby forming a layer for use as an element of said organic electronic device, wherein before step (d), a step of adding an electron acceptor to the solution or dispersion is performed.
