摘要： A system and method of displaying information by an electronic price label which uses thresholds to minimize the number of messages to an electronic price label. The system includes a record for an item associated with the electronic price label which contains the thresholds. The thresholds divide the information into a number of ranges including a first range of information and a second range of information. The system further includes a computer for scheduling messages for transmission to the electronic price label, wherein the computer obtains first information associated with the first range and displayed by the electronic price label, obtains second information which is more recent than the first information, determines whether the first information equals the second information, and if the first information does not equal the second information, obtains the second range, determines whether the first information is within the second range, and sends a message to the electronic price label containing the second information and a command to display the second information instead of the first information if the first information is outside the second range.

One embodiment of the system includes a touch screen located at a pharmacy, an input device in the touch screen or card reader for recording identification information from a customer, a barcode reader located at the pharmacy for reading a barcode containing prescription information from a previous transaction, a card reader or cash acceptor or check reader located at the pharmacy for receiving payment from the customer, and a computer located at the pharmacy for displaying a prompt to enter the identification information and scan the barcode using the touch screen, for recording the prescription information using the barcode reader, for determining corresponding price information for a refill of the prescription, and for processing payment for the refill from the customer.

摘要： A system and method of dispatching an individual in a transaction establishment which employs a communication system and pagers. In a preferred embodiment, the system includes a telephone or other alert device for receiving a first message indicative of a problem, a recording device for recording a location of the problem from the first message, an electronic price label system including a number of transmitters in the transaction establishment for transmitting a second message addressed to a pager carried by the individual and a number of receivers in the transaction establishment for receiving a third message from the pager and a computer which determines a location of the pager from signal strength information from the third message and which sends a fourth message containing the location of the problem to the pager carried by the individual to alert the individual to respond to the problem. The first message may be from a customer in the transaction establishment, an employee of the transaction establishment, or a system in the transaction establishment. The choice of a responding individual may be based upon the person's skill or proximity to the problem.

The system includes an RFID label affixed to a product, a scale for determining actual weight information for the product, and a computer which records a customer indication that the product is on the scale, transmits a signal to the RFID label while the product is on the scale, records a response from the RFID label, obtains identification information for the product using the response from the RFID label, obtains price and reference weight information for the product using the identification information, compares the actual weight information with the reference weight information, and initiates acceptance of payment if a difference amount between the actual weight information and the reference weight information is with a predetermined threshold.
