摘要: An apparatus for applying an electrical charge to a charge retentive surface by transporting ions through an ionically conductive liquid and transferring the ions to the member to be charged across the liquid/charge retentive surface interface. The ionically conductive liquid is contacted with the charge retentive surface for depositing ions onto the charge retentive surface via a wetted donor blade supported within a conductive housing, wherein the housing is coupled to an electrical power supply for applying an electrical potential to the ionically conductive liquid. In one specific embodiment, the charging apparatus includes a support blade for urging the donor blade into contact with the charge retentive surface and a wiping blade for wiping any liquid from the surface of the charge retentive surface as may have been transferred to the surface at the donor blade/charge retentive surface interface.

摘要: An apparatus, printing machine and method for replenishing an aquatron liquid reservoir in an aquatron charging device. The print media (e.g. paper, vellum, etc.) releases liquid from the print media during fusing. A condenser creates condensate from the liquid released by the print media which is collected in a conduit and transported using air flow into a collection container. This collection container can be the aquatron liquid reservoir, or a separate collection container that pumps liquid to the aquatron liquid reservoir, thus, enabling replenishing the liquid supply of the aquatron liquid reservoir within the printing machine. Sensing devices measuring liquid concentration resistance in the aquatron liquid reservoir and/or the collection container control the liquid level of the reservoir and/or collection container.

摘要: An electrostatographic printing machine and apparatus that utilizes a two layer roll charger for contact charging of photoreceptors. The charger includes a liquid retentive foam layer fitted over an electrically conductive shaft. The shaft can be solid or porous, the later requiring a separate liquid reservoir. The second layer is a thin liquid permeable member, over the foam layer, which transmits water at a slow, but controlled rate during the rotation of the roller. The roller may rotate synchronously with the photoreceptor or be allowed to slip on the photoreceptor surface to improve uniformity and contact. The membrane increases life by controlling the runout of liquid from the repository. Also, the present invention permits charging over photoreceptor pinholes.

摘要: Polymer films are formed by electrocodeposition of solutions containing a dispersion of charged particles of a first polymer and charged particles of a second polymer. Microheterogeneous films are obtained having micro-domains of a minor component polymer dispersed in the major component polymer. Processes for preparing dispersions for electrocodeposition are also provided In a first process, two polymers are dissolved in a common solvent and then dispersed as small charged particles in another solvent which is a precipitant for both polymers. In another process, a dispersion of a first polymer is prepared by adding a solution of the first polymer to a dispersant solvent, and then a solution of a second polymer is dispersed in the dispersion of the first polymer. In another process, a solution of the second polymer is added to a dispersion of the first polymer which contains only a single non-solvent for the second polymer. In yet another process, a dispersion of the first polymer in a first solvent system is mixed directly with a dispersion of a second polymer in a second solvent system, resulting in a dispersion of the first and second polymers in a resulting solvent system of the first and second solvent systems. In yet another process, a block copolymer composed of two blocks is dissolved in a solvent, and then dispersed in a non-solvent to form the dispersion.
