    摘要: A printed circuit board connector is disclosed which contains insulation displacing contacts. A plurality of individual conductor inserting caps are mounted on the connector housing by integral thin hinge sections so that conductors may be independently connected to the contacts by the caps. A positive latch arrangement is provided which secures the caps in position on the connector housing after the conductors have been connected to the contacts. Thus, conductors can be removed or replaced individually in the connector.

The upper ends of the contacts are inclined toward each other. A longitudinally extending rotatable cam is provided for shifting the housing downwardly to cam the contacts.

    摘要: An electrical connector having a zero force insertion upon mating of a first connector member and a second connector member. Each of the connector members contains contacts mounted in bores formed therein. The contacts in one of the connector members extend forwardly from the bores therein. A split insulator member in such connector member forms a pair of actuating plates. A rotatable actuating shaft is disposed between the plates and carries an actuating cam which, when the shaft is rotated, shifts the actuating plates apart to mate the contacting surfaces of the contacts in the respective connector members. A pair of additional actuating cams are rotatably mounted between the actuating plates on opposite sides of the actuating shaft. A gear on the shaft engages gears fixed to the additional cams so that the latter cams will rotate upon rotation of the actuating shaft, thereby providing an evenly distributed actuating force on the actuating plates preventing the plates from skewing against the connector housing. The additional actuating cams are rotatably mounted on polarizing posts which may be selectively mounted in various positions so that the connector member containing the posts may be coupled to only a predetermined mating connector member.

    摘要: An electrical connector in which a contact is mounted in a contact cavity in the connector insulator from the front and is removed forwardly from the cavity. The contact is formed with a forwardly and outwardly extending spring retention tine that engages a rearwardly facing shoulder in the cavity to prevent forward movement of the contact in the cavity. The tine embodies a relatively deformable area so that upon application of a predetermined forwardly directed force on the contact, the tine will fold back on itself at said deformable area, thereby allowing the tine to pass under the rearwardly facing shoulder in the cavity. Thus, the contact may be removed from the contact cavity without the use of a tool. The invention is particularly adaptable to contacts having wire-wrap tails which are accurately held in position by a stabilizing plate at the rear of the connector insulator.

    摘要: An electrical connector in which two rows of resilient contacts are mounted in a connector housing on opposite sides of a slot which is adapted to receive a printed circuit board or similar electrical component therein. The end portion of the spring contacting section of each contact is reversely bent in a direction away from the slot. A vertically movable contact shifting element is disposed between the spring contacting sections and the reversely bent end portions of the contacts in each row of contacts. A cam actuator is operated to move the contact shifting elements upwardly against the reverse bent end portions of the contacts thereby deflecting the spring contacting sections away from the slot so that a printed circuit board may be inserted therein with zero insertion force. Means is also disclosed for providing a wiping action between the contacts and the traces on the printed circuit board when the contacts are actuated to engage the board. The contacts are frictionally retained in the connector housing, and are provided with upwardly facing shoulders which allows a tool to be inserted through the slot in the housing to engage the contacts directly to press-fit the contacts into holes in a substrate underlying the housing. The contacts and connector housing are designed so that the contacts may be individually removed from the top of the housing.

    摘要: A connector for an IC memory card having a printed circuit member mounted within the housing of the card which extends into a slot opening at the edge of the card. The connector contains two rows of contacts which are engageable with conductive traces on the opposite sides of the printed circuit member when the card is inserted into the connector. The contacts in the connector are reversely bent to form inner arms joined to outer arms by nose portions. The inner arms of the contacts in the two rows are normally spaced apart a distance greater than the thickness of the printed circuit member so that when the card is initially inserted into the connector, the noses of the contacts will pass freely over the border of the printed circuit member. Thereafter, the sidewalls of the housing of the card cam the outer arms of the contacts inwardly, forcing the inner arms into engagement with the traces on the printed circuit member in the card.

    摘要: An electrical connector in which two rows of resilient contacts are mounted in a connector housing on opposite sides of a slot which is adapted to receive a printed circuit board or similar electrical component therein. The end portion of the spring contacting section of each contact is reversely bent in a direction away from the slot. A vertically movable contact shifting element is disposed between the spring contacting sections and the reversely bent end portions of the contacts in each row of contacts. A cam actuator is operated to move the contact shifting elements upwardly against the reversely bent end portions of the contacts thereby deflecting the spring contacting sections away from the slot so that a printed circuit board may be inserted therein with zero insertion force. Teeth are provided on the contact shifting element and cam actuator which interlock and thereby restrict upward movement of the contact shifting element except during operation of the cam actuator. Cooperating cams are provided on the cam actuator and housing causing the actuator to rise to facilitate interlocking of the teeth.
