摘要： A low insertion force connector for making electrical connection between a circuit board and an external circuit is provided. An elongated outer housing has a centrally located opening with a channel extending longitudinally along the bottom thereof. The channel bottom includes a plurality of outwardly facing ramps along the length thereof. A plurality of contacts are mounted on the housing on either side of the channel with the ends interior the housing being bowed inwardly for contacting a circuit board. An elongated cam which has a longitudinal groove on either side thereof is mounted within the channel and has a bottom surface configured to mate with the ramps of the channel. The cam is adapted to be actuated in the longitudinal direction to ride up the ramps for movement in a transverse direction. An inner housing which is mounted interior the opening of the outer housing and over the cam includes elongated upright sections forming a zone for receiving the circuit board. The upright sections include cam follower means projecting interior respective grooves and means for abutting the bowed portions which is adapted to urge the bowed portions to a position of disengagement when the cam is actuated.

摘要： A connector of the type including an aperture for receiving a circuit board includes a base retaining a row of longitudinally spaced contacts. The contacts include flexible portions adjacent one end. A camming bar is seated in the base for longitudinal sliding movement and for swinging movement about a longitudinal axis. A contact actuating member is mounted on the camming bar and is engageable with the contacts. The base and the camming bar include cam means responsive to longitudinal sliding movement of the camming bar for swinging the camming bar and the contact actuating member about the longitudinal axis. In this manner, the flexible portions of the contacts are displaced from the circuit board-receiving aperture to facilitate entry or removal of the circuit board. The base includes a socket within which the camming bar is seated, to form the longitudinal swinging axis of the camming bar.

摘要： A connector for printed circuit boards, having a plurality of resiliently deformable contact members movable between open and closed positions by a control member rotatably mounted in the connector case. The contact members each have a fixed end retained in the bottom of the case and a movable end attached to the control member. An active region situated between the movable and fixed ends serves in the closed position resiliently to contact a conducting connection track on a printed circuit board inserted in the connector. The portion of each contact member between its movable end and active region is less flexible than the portion between its active region and fixed end, the resulting deformation of the members on movement from their open to their closed positions facilitating self-cleaning of the conducting tracks of the board and the active region of the contact members.

摘要： An electrical connector is provided for electrically interconnecting the conductive terminals of a flat electrical circuit-bearing structure such as a circuit board with a backplane or the like. The connector includes a housing having a slot, into which the flat electrical circuit-bearing structure is inserted, and a carrier mounted for reciprocal movement in the slot to move the flat structure as it is inserted. A contact strip mounted on the carrier moves with the carrier and also is movable transversely thereof by a cam action to engage the flat structure's conductive terminal as the flat electrical structure is inserted. A resilient portion of the contact strip extends from the carrier to another portion fixed in the housing and urges the carrier outwardly of the slot and into abutment with the inserted electrical element.

摘要： An electrical interconnector is formed of discrete laminate members. The basic configuration has a printed circuit substrate member interleaved between two ground plane members. Predetermined first and second printed circuit conductor patterns are on opposite sides of the printed circuit substrate, each interacting as a signal plane with the particular one of the ground plane members that is juxtaposed to it. The two patterns are interconnected by severable conductive means located at one or more predetermined locations across at least one edge of the substrate. Programmability is effected by severing one or more of the conductive means in the desired interconnection pattern. The basic configuration when arrayed with other similar basic configurations provides modular construction. Each basic configuration, hereinafter referred to sometimes as a section, in the array is separated from its adjacent section by another laminate member which is an insulator. The spacer member and its associated adjacent sections are configured to form a raceway, i.e. a duct or channel, for running insulated wire conductors which may be used, if desired, to interconnect predetermined ones of the printed circuit conductors associated with the interconnector. The interconnector is adapted to have the terminals of electrical devices mounted along the laminar edges of the interconnector.

摘要： This disclosure is directed to a connector unit which has the capability of mating a plurality of side by side insulated conductors (usually in the form of a multiconductor, flat, flexible, bonded or laminated cable) with a plurality of similarly spaced contact pad areas on a printed circuit board (PCB). The multi-conductor cable is mated to the PCB in a quick-connect manner and enables also a quick-disconnect, or separation of the cable assembly, from the PCB, to be accomplished with one hand only, and with no tooling required. The resulting contact pressure between the PCB and the leads of the multi-conductor cable is above a certain predetermined minimum and is reproducible, even after repetitive quick-connect and disconnects of connector unit from the PCB. The mating of the connector unit to the PCB is accomplished with low insertion force. Further, the connector unit is capable of electrically engaging a PCB of varying thickness. The foregoing is accomplished by a precise pin-type alignment means between connector unit and the PCB in combination with an elongated spring clip affixed to the connector unit, which spring clip engages the PCB, under a predetermined contact pressure, after the pin-type alignment is achieved. Also, there may be provided, within the connector unit, and in combination with the cable assembly, a means for providing alternating ground lines between adjacent signal lines, to reduce cross-talk. The connector unit is provided with spring loaded electrical contact strips on the signal lines to assure uniform contact pressure with the contact areas of the PCB.
