摘要: The multi-colour liquid crystal display device (1) of the present invention has a plurality of discrete liquid crystal elements (110, 130, 150) that are carried by a surface of a carrier (10). The liquid crystal elements (110, 130, 150), which cover respective parts of the electrode structure (12), each have a polymer layer (114, 134, 154), which encloses a cholesteric liquid crystal material (102, 122, 142) between the polymer layer and the surface of the carrier (10). The discrete liquid crystal elements (110, 130, 150) have been formed by the individual deposition of discrete droplets of a liquid comprising the various cholesteric liquid crystal materials (102, 122, 142) and a polymer precursor followed by exposure of the droplets to a stimulus triggering the polymerization of the polymer precursor.

摘要: System for manufacturing micro-spheres of a production fluid (23) containing a constituting material. The system comprises a reservoir (1) for holding a receiving fluid (11). There further is provided a jetting module (2) having at least one nozzle (21) for jetting the production fluid into the receiving fluid. The production fluid contains a concentration of the constituting material in the range between] and 0.01 and 5%. The constituent(s) of the final microspheres are dissolved in the production fluid. As a nozzle an ink-jet head is employed that is placed under the surface of the receiving liquid/air interface. In this configuration inkjetted droplets do not have to pass the air-liquid interface but will be injected directly into the receiving fluid.

摘要: The present invention provides a matrix substrate for controlling liquids printed on the substrate and a method of fabrication of such. According to the invention, a substrate holding a matrix of pixels for receiving and holding printed liquids is fabricated in a deformable and flexible polymeric material which allows for raised structures (barriers) separating the pixels to be formed in the substrate material itself. This renders possible a number of new methods of fabrication for the fabrication of matrix substrates, e.g. for use in polyLED displays. The materials and methods of fabrication according to the invention further remove a number of limitations in the freedom of design known from materials and methods of fabrication according to the prior art. This leads to the possibility of barrier profiles with overhanging structures, improved resolution and new dimension ranges.
