摘要: A spinal implant system is provided having a stabilization rod, a plurality of bone anchors which could be either hooks or screws and which have an internal recess that defines a rod-receiving channel. Sidewalls of the anchor project beyond the recess, and are threaded on the outside. These external threads cooperate with the internal threads of a locking member, or cap nut, which has a top surface with a cavity that includes an internal hexagon. The internal threads are on the inside of the cylindrical sidewalls of the cap nut. Further, on the bottom side of the top surface, the cap nut has a guide member in the form of a cylindrical boss, which has a smaller diameter than that of the recess within the anchor. The boss helps to prevent cross threading and to prevent collapse of the anchor sidewalls under high forces. An annular ridge on the bottom of the boss further helps to retain the rod relative to the anchor.

摘要: A system for implanting an interbody device between adjacent vertebrae comprises an interbody device having a plurality of lobes extending outwardly from a longitudinal rib, and having a relaxed shape approximating the shape of the disc being replaced. An insertion guide is provided having a bore therein from a proximal end to a distal end thereof to accept the interbody device in an unrelaxed shape, wherein the distal end is shaped for insertion into an intervertebral space. The insertion rod may be positioned within the bore of the insertion guide whereby the interbody device is positioned within the intervertebral space by advancing the insertion rod into the insertion guide.

摘要: A spinal fixation system including an interconnection device is provided. The interconnection device comprises a connector element including a passage structured to receive a component of the spinal fixation system therein. The passage is at least partially bound by a first wall portion and a second wall portion, wherein the first wall portion is movable between a first position to receive the component and a second position to restrain the component in the passage. The device further includes a retainer element which holds the first wall portion in the second position in order to lock the component in the passage.

摘要: An implant holder and driver for use in implanting orthopedic implants is disclosed. The instrument includes a distal retaining member that affirmatively holds the orthopedic implant and allows significant force to be applied by the driver without dislodging the engagement. An actuation mechanism is provided to move the retaining member between the open and closed positions. The actuation mechanism utilized in one aspect of the present invention may be operated in an ergonomic and efficient fashion.
