摘要: An expandable intervertebral implant includes a base body, a top endplate and a center component. The top endplate is configured to be placed onto an open top of the base body and to expand upward. The top endplate includes a plate, first and second side protrusions extending vertically downward from first and second sides of the plate, respectively, first and second protrusions including inclined surfaces and extending obliquely downward from a first end of the plate and third and fourth protrusions having a triangular shape with at least one inclined surface and extending downward from a second end of the plate. The center component is configured to be placed within the base body and to interface with the top endplate and to move longitudinally forward or backward within the base body, thereby causing the top endplate to expand upwards or move downward, respectively.

A nucleus of compressible elastomeric material is surrounded by a winding of a slender strand of flexible tension-bearing material oriented at a pitch angle relative to a central axis. The orientation of the winding provides the prosthesis a limited amount of freedom of movement and flexibility. A pair of end caps of the prosthetic implant include angulated grooves that allow for insertion of the device between vertebral bodies from any of several directions. Special fasteners provide protruding points useful in anchoring the prosthesis.

摘要: A device for insertion into a spinal (intervertebral or intravertebral) space is expandable from a first circumference to a second circumference through axial compression of segments of the device, particularly once the device has been properly situated within a vertebral space. The interbody/intravertebral body device is characterized by a plurality of axially stacked, individual segments that are provided on a central insertion and deployment rod. Each segment includes a central plate or body to which are pivotally attached plate or leaf structures. Pivoting of the structures provides a collapsed or unexpanded position of the first circumference and an open or expanded position of the second circumference.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a stand-alone anterior fusion device that is positioned in the space between adjacent vertebrae to be fused. The device comprises an annular cage having a thickness defined by an outer surface and an inner surface. The inner surface is defined by a cavity adapted to receive graft material. A top surface is in a spatial relationship to a bottom surface and may be further defined by a Lordosis angle. Ascending and descending guides extend through the wall, each guide has an axis defined by an attitude, where each guide directs a vertebral screw in a desired trajectory into the adjacent vertebrae whereby a bi-cortical screw purchase may be achieved. The device is a stand alone stabilizing device as well as a cage for containing graft material and maintaining the height of the space between the vertebrae to be fused.
