摘要： An apparatus and method for detecting a wobble signal read from an optical disc. The wobble signal detection apparatus comprises an analog/digital (A/D) converter for A/D-converting an analog wobble signal, read from the optical disc and then band pass filtered, a slope detector for detecting a slope of the A/D-converted wobble signal according to a variation thereof, and a wobble signal detector for detecting a peak point of the A/D-converted wobble signal using the detected wobble signal slope, and detecting/outputting a square-wave wobble signal with a high level or low level transition at the detected peak point. The slope detector calculates variations of data values of the A/D-converted wobble signal sampled within a predetermined period on the basis of predetermined different weights, accumulates the calculated values and detects the slope of the A/D-converted wobble signal on the basis of the accumulated value. The predetermined period is an interval where at least two wobble signal data samples are obtained. Therefore, a stable wobble signal can be detected even though a low-frequency fluctuation component and DC offset component are introduced into the analog wobble signal read from the optical disc or the analog wobble signal varies in amplitude.

摘要： Herein disclosed are an apparatus and method for encoding a wobble signal to be recorded on an optical disc, and an apparatus and method for decoding a wobble signal read from the optical disc. The encoding apparatus performs a minimum shift keying modulation operation for a wobble signal to be recorded as physical address information on a writable optical disc, by adjusting a first frequency f1 and second frequency f2 of the wobble signal with coherence. Therefore, a peak point of the wobble signal is formed at a point of time that the frequencies change. The decoding apparatus band pass filters an analog wobble signal read from the optical disc, converts the filtered wobble signal into a digital wobble signal, detects a peak point of the converted digital wobble signal, outputs a peak detection signal with a level transition at the detected peak point, and detects/outputs original wobble data on the basis of the outputted peak detection signal. Therefore, the decoding apparatus is able to accurately decode the wobble signal in a simple manner.

摘要： An apparatus and method for detecting a wobble signal read from an optical disc. The wobble signal detection apparatus comprises an analog/digital (A/D) converter for A/D-converting an analog wobble signal, read from the optical disc and then band pass filtered, a slope detector for detecting a slope of the A/D-converted wobble signal according to a variation thereof, and a wobble signal detector for detecting a peak point of the A/D-converted wobble signal using the detected wobble signal slope, and detecting/outputting a square-wave wobble signal with a high level or low level transition at the detected peak point. The slope detector calculates variations of data values of the A/D-converted wobble signal sampled within a predetermined period on the basis of predetermined different weights, accumulates the calculated values and detects the slope of the A/D-converted wobble signal on the basis of the accumulated value. 摘要： A high-density read-only optical disc, and an optical disc apparatus and method using the same. The apparatus and method record data on a lead-in area of a high-density read-only optical disc such as a BD-ROM (Blu-ray disc ROM (Read Only Memory)) in the form of pre-pit strings associated with an HFM (High-Frequency Modulated) groove applied to a BD-RW (Blu-ray Disc Rewritable). Moreover, the apparatus and method continuously apply the same tracking servo operation to an entire area of the same high-density read-only optical disc or rewritable optical disc. Therefore, the apparatus and method can simplify an algorithm for controlling a plurality of tracking servo operations, and avoid an increased size of the optical disc apparatus.

Accordingly, it is possible to achieve optimal optical power control and automatic gain control or identification of a current position, while enabling a normal data recording or reproducing operation corresponding to the type of the optical disc.
