Abstract: To provide a method for producing a Guerbet alcohol without necessity of the use of a solvent, capable of enhancing the conversion and the yield. A method for producing a Guerbet alcohol, including the following steps 1 to 3 in this order: step 1: preparing a liquid composition containing an aliphatic alcohol and a base; step 2: holding the liquid composition at 100° C. or more and 180° C. or less to thereby adjust a water amount in the liquid composition to less than 0.28% by mass; and step 3: setting the liquid composition to be more than 180° C.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing an olefin with a high yield for a short reaction time in a dehydration reaction of an aliphatic alcohol. The present invention provides a method for producing an olefin, including subjecting an aliphatic alcohol having 6 or more carbon atoms to a dehydration reaction in the presence of an aluminum oxide catalyst, wherein an average pore diameter of the aluminum oxide catalyst is 12.5 nm or more and 20.0 nm or less.

Abstract: The present invention provides: a method for producing an epoxyalkane capable of obtaining an epoxide in a high yield while attaining a high olefin conversion rate and a high selectivity for epoxides even when an olefin includes a long carbon chain, and a solid oxidation catalyst used in the method. The method for producing an epoxyalkane of the present invention comprises reacting an olefin with an oxidant in the presence of a solid oxidation catalyst, wherein the solid oxidation catalyst comprises a transition metal and a carrier that supports the transition metal, and the carrier is a metal oxide having a silyl group represented by the following general formula (1):

    R1R2R3Si—  (1)

wherein R1, R2, and R3 are each independently a single bond, a hydrocarbon group, a halogenated hydrocarbon group, an alkoxy group, or a halogen, and at least one of R1, R2, and R3 is a hydrocarbon group having 3 or more carbon atoms or a halogenated hydrocarbon group having 3 or more carbon atoms.
