摘要: The effects of endogenous insulin-like growth factor can be appreciated by administering compounds capable of increasing free IGF in living bodies. Compounds are described which can elevate the concentration of unbound IGF by converting endogenous IGF (insulin-like growth factor) into free, biologically active IGF or elevating the concentration of the complex of IGF and IGFBP (insulin-like growth factor binding protein) in living bodies. Medicaments can be prepared containing these compounds or these compounds may be used in methods for the prevention and or treatment of IGF-responsive diseases such as diabetes, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or osteoporosis.

摘要: A tray for transporting a wafer is herein provided, which can control the temperature of the wafer upon the processing thereof, and which can easily fix the wafer without reducing the effective area on the surface of the wafer and without requiring much time for the adhesion of the wafer thereto and without requiring any post-treatment after the wafer is detached from or attached to the tray. The tray 302 is one which comprises a base body consisting of an insulating material and an electrostatic chuck electrode 306 embedded in the base body, wherein the terminal at a load-dispatching or power supply portion for energizing the electrostatic chuck electrode is a spring-type terminal 305a, the spring-type terminal is so designed that the tip of the same can come in touch with the electrostatic chuck electrode, and further the tray is so designed that a sealing member 305b is provided at the periphery of the load-dispatching portion so that any heat-exchanging medium never passes around the contact portion or area between the tip of the spring-type terminal and the electrostatic chuck electrode and that the tray can thus fixe the wafer S thereto through the electrostatic chucking. Thus, the wafer is fixed to this wafer-transporting tray by the action of the electrostatic chucking.

摘要: A tone generation apparatus detects a position of a mouthpiece section having been pressed by a human player holding the mouthpiece section in his or her mouth. The tone generation apparatus identifies a tone pitch on the basis of the detected position and human player's operation on a piston control. Also, the tone generation apparatus detects a pressure of breath blown by the human player into the mouthpiece section and generates a tone signal of a wind instrument having the identified tone pitch, and audibly reproduces the tone signal after amplifying the tone signal in accordance with a tone volume level corresponding to the detected pressure of breath.

摘要: A thin film magnetic device is provided, in which magnetic permeability in a high frequency range can be easily improved. Scratch-like grooves extending along an extending direction of a coil (for example, a Y-axis direction being an extending direction of a second coil part) are formed at least one side of a surface and a back of each of a lower magnetic film and an upper magnetic film. A magnetization direction of anisotropic magnetization is controlled in each of formation areas of the scratch-like grooves (formation areas of lower magnetic films and upper magnetic films), and therefore displacement (rotation) of the magnetization direction of the anisotropic magnetization is pinned by the scratch-like grooves. Consequently, certain magnetic permeability is kept even in a high frequency range. Moreover, such formation of the scratch-like grooves may not cause complexity in manufacturing process.
