    摘要: An image forming apparatus has at least a photoconductor, a charger, and an irradiator for irradiating a light for optically writing in on the photoconductor to form a latent electrostatic image using a process for electrophotography in which a resolution of the optical writing in operation is 1200 dpi or more. Further, the optical writing operation is performed using a laser beam having a diameter of 35 &mgr;m or less. The photoconductor is provided with at least a charge generating layer containing a charge generating substance and a charge transporting layer containing a charge transporting substance. The charge transporting layer has a carrier mobility of 1×10−5 cm2·V−1·sec−1 or more under an electric field of 3×105 V·cm−1.

    摘要: An image formation apparatus using an elecrophotographic process for obtaining a high quality image with tone value R2 of equal to or more than 0.98 is provided. The resolution for light-writing is equal to or more than 1200 dpi and/or light-writing is performed based on image data formed by applying halftone processing at a line frequency of equal to or more than 200 lpi. Light-writing means is accomplished with a laser light beam with a beam diameter equal to or less than 35 μm. The photoconductor includes a charge generating layer containing a charge generating material and a charge transfer layer containing a charge transfer material laminated on a conductive support. The ionization potential of the charge generating material Ip(CG) and ionization potential of the charge transfer material Ip(CT) satisfy the relationship of Ip(CG)≧Ip(CT).

In at least one embodiment, the fixing device performs tentative fixing for tentatively fixing a toner image on a recording sheet.     摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a photoconductive element including a conductive support rotatably supported and a charge injection layer and a surface protection layer sequentially laminated on the conductive support. A charger includes a conductive body for injecting, when a preselected voltage is applied thereto, a charge in the charge injection layer in contact with the surface protection layer. A writing unit exposes the charged surface of the photoconductive element imagewise to thereby locally vary the potential deposited on the photoconductive element and electrostatically form a latent image. A developing unit develops the latent image to thereby produce a corresponding toner image. The toner image is transferred from the photoconductive element to a recording medium. Assuming that the charge injection layer has a thickness of D micrometers, and that the potential deposited on the surface of the photoconductive element by the conductive member is V volts in absolute value, then a ratio V/D is confined in a preselected range that does not contaminate the background of the photoconductive element.
