摘要: A method of recording data in a multilayered recordable optical recording medium is disclosed. When test recording is executed in a multilayered recordable optical recording medium having N recording layers (N is an integer of 2 or more), a test recording range in a test recording area of an (m+1)th recording layer is shifted relative to a test recording range in a test recording area of an mth recording layer by an amount greater than a difference of decentration amounts between the mth and the (m+1)th recording layers or a maximum decentration amount in the N recording layers. The shifting direction is inverse to a test recording range adding direction in a radius direction of the recording medium.

摘要: The present invention provides a binarization device that realizes reproduction with a low error rate, even where optimum recording conditions such as recording power have not been set in the recording device, or where optimum recording has not been carried out for the reproducing device. The binarization device includes a binarization unit, a slice level setting unit, and a weight adding function. The binarization unit binarizes a reproduction signal obtained by reproducing information recorded by mark length recording on a recording medium to output high-level signals and low-level signals based on a slice level. The slice level setting unit calculates the average value of the high-level signals output from the binarization unit, and determines the slice level from the average value. The determined slice level is set to the binarization unit. Either the binarization unit or the slice level setting unit adds a predetermined weight to each signal having a short high-level time among the high-level signals.

摘要: Disclosed are a phthalocyanine near infrared absorbing material having a phthalocyanine skeleton whose benzene rings contain a silyl group as a bulky substituent and an optical information recording medium containing the material. The phthalocyanine near infrared absorbing material has excellent association-preventing property and light resistance and exhibits a high index of refraction at a wave length of 770-830 nm and high stability, an optical information recording medium (CD-R recording medium) containing the phthalocyanine has high reflectance, excellent storage stability and excellent reproduction stability. The recording medium also shows strong light absorptivity and light reflectivity in a wave length of 630-700 nm and, thus, is applicable for the pick up with a semiconductor laser of 630-700 nm, permitting such high density recording as to provide 1.6-1.7 times as high recording density as that attained by currently employed recording media which are adapted to 780-810 nm.
