    摘要: A second-harmonic generating device includes a laser diode for providing light of a fundamental wave, having end-facets at least one being an antireflection coated end-facet. An optical reflector forms an external resonator with one of the end-facets of the laser diode whereby a portion of the light from the laser diode is returned by the reflector to the laser diode. A second-harmonic generation element is disposed between the laser diode and the optical reflector, for producing a second-harmonic of the fundamental wave while the fundamental wave propagates in the second-harmonic generation element. In this way, the optical reflector determines the wavelength of the light of the fundamental wave so that the laser diode produces light with a wavelength satisfying a phase matching condition of the second-harmonic generation element.

    摘要: A wavelength conversion device is formed by adding a laser-active material to a nonlinear optical crystal, and creating a phase-matching structure in the crystal. Light of a first wavelength excites the laser-active material, generating laser light of a second wavelength. Nonlinear optical effects then generate further wavelengths, such as the second harmonic of the first wavelength, the second harmonic of the second wavelength, the sum frequency of the first and second wavelengths, and the difference frequency of the first and second wavelengths. Multiple output wavelengths are thereby obtained from a single input wavelength. Because of the phase matching structure, the output is aligned in the same direction as the input light.

    摘要: A non-diffracting beam generator converts coherent light from a semiconductor laser into a small, intense, non-diffracting beam, which is directed into a non-linear optical element. The non-linear optical element converts this beam to light of a different wavelength. The non-linear optical element is a bulk element, not having an internal waveguide, and not requiring precise alignment of the non-diffracting beam. The non-diffracting beam preferably has a length matching the thickness of the non-linear optical element.

    摘要: A wavelength conversion device employs an axicon lens to form Bessel beams of signal light and pump light, which are directed into an anisotropic nonlinear optical crystal. The signal light and pump light are both polarized parallel to the uniquely determined Z-axis of the anisotropic nonlinear optical crystal, the Z-axis being oriented perpendicular to the beam axis. The axicon lens is configured to refract the signal light and pump light at angles such that a phase matching condition is satisfied in the anisotropic nonlinear optical crystal, and converted light, also polarized parallel to the Z-axis and having a new wavelength, is generated.

    摘要: A casing with housing space for retaining a first gear and a second gear in a condition where the tooth tips and both side surfaces slide, comprises a main casing which retains the first gear in a manner which allows rotation but restricts movement in the axial direction, and a gear holder which can move in the rotating shaft direction in the main casing and which rotatably retains the second gear. The main casing contains a biasing member which applies a biasing force to bias the gear holder to one side in the rotating shaft direction, and a piston which is acted on by hydraulic pressure and presses the gear holder on the other end side in the rotating shaft direction to counteract the biasing force. The gear holder is acted on by the hydraulic force from the piston to counteract the bias from the biasing member and moves in the rotating shaft direction according to the hydraulic force so that the engagement width between the first gear and the second gear which is retained by the gear holder is changed.

    摘要: A wavelength conversion apparatus has an optical amplifier, a wavelength converter, and an optical coupler coupled to form an optical ring resonator. The optical amplifier supplies pump light. The wavelength converter generates converted light, either from the pump light alone or by interaction between the pump light and signal light supplied from a signal source. The optical coupler extracts the converted light. The optical ring resonator preferably includes a tunable optical bandpass filter that defines the wavelength of the pump light. The optical coupler may also couple the signal light into the optical ring resonator, preferably through a polarization beam splitter and at least one polarization rotator, making the apparatus insensitive to the polarization of the signal light.

    摘要: An element for generating second-harmonic waves of a short wavelength from a fundamental wave emitting from a semiconductor laser and the like. The element includes a substrate made of a ferroelectric crystal, a second-harmonic wave generator for generating a second-harmonic wave from a fundamental wave entered therein, and periodically arranged portions formed in a front stage region and a rear stage region of the element. The periodic portions or structures, each have pairs of parts or regions of a high optical refractive index and of a low optical refractive index so as to confine the fundamental waves in the second-harmonic wave generating portion. These regions have various kinds of material diffused or introduced therein and of a thickness. According to another example of the element, the sign of a nonlinear optical coefficient of the region is periodically reversed and the region satisfies a quasi-phase-matching condition.

    摘要: An oil pump includes a drive gear, which rotates with a drive shaft, a driven gear, which meshes with the drive gear and is supported rotatable on a driven shaft, and a casing having a pump chamber, which accommodates the drive gear and the driven gear. The casing of the gear pump is provided with an intake port and a discharge port, which are in fluid communication with the pump chamber, so that oil is sucked through the intake port and discharged through the discharge port. A gear holder is provided in the casing such that the gear holder supports the driven gear rotatable and holds both sides of the driven gear while the gear holder itself is being supported axially movable by the driven shaft. The gear holder holding the driven gear moves axially by receiving a biasing force and also a pressing force acting against the biasing force.

    摘要: An integrated phase-locked semiconductor laser wherein a plurality of waveguide paths extend in parallel to each other. A current blocking layer is formed on one of opposite major surfaces of a semiconductor substrate and is divided into a plurality of regions by a plurality of stripe-like channels. Each of the channels has a depth which reaches at least the above-mentioned major surface of the substrate. A first cladding layer covers the surface of the current blocking layer and those regions of the substrate which are exposed to the channels. A waveguide layer is deposited on the first cladding layer and has a surface opposite to the first cladding layer which is substantially flat. An active layer, a reflecting layer, a second cladding layer and a cap layer are deposited one upon another on the waveguide layer layer. The waveguide layer has an effective refractive index which sequentially decreases in the order of first regions individually associated with the plurality of channels, second regions individually associated with interchannel regions each intervening between nearby channels, and third regions located at opposite sides of the plurality of channels relatively to each other.
