    摘要: The present invention is directed to a coordinating catalyst system comprising at least one metallocene or constrained geometry pre-catalyst transition metal compound, (e.g., di-(n-butylcyclopentadienyl)zirconium dichloride), at least one support-activator (e.g., spray dried silica/clay agglomerate), and optionally at least one organometallic compound (e.g., triisobutyl aluminum), in controlled amounts, and methods for preparing the same. The resulting catalyst system exhibits enhanced activity for polymerizing olefins and yields polymer having very good morphology. The support-activator is a layered material having a negative charge on its interlaminar surfaces and is sufficiently Lewis acidic to activate the transition metal compound for olefin polymerization.

    摘要: A support for use in preparing supported catalysts for addition polymerizations comprising the reaction product of: (A) an inorganic oxide material comprising reactive surface hydroxyl groups, at least some of said hydroxyl groups optionally having been functionalized an converted to a reactive silano moiety corresponding to the formula: --OSiR.sub.2 H, wherein R, independently each occurrence, is hydrogen C.sub.1-20 hydrocarbyl, or C.sub.1-20 hydrocarbyloxy, said inorganic oxide or functionalized derivative thereof comprising less than 1.0 mmol of reactive surface hydroxyl functionality per gram, and (B) an activator compound comprising: b.sub.1) a cation which is capable of reacting with a transition metal compound to form a catalytically active transition metal complex, and b.sub.2) a compatible anion containing at least one substituent able to react with the inorgnaic oxide, with residual hydroxyl functionality of the inorganic oxide, or with the reactive silane moiety, hereby covalently bonding the compatible anion to the support, catalysts formed therefrom, process of manufacture and the method to use.

    摘要: A process for forming a coordination catalyst system comprising sequentially or substantially simultaneously contacting: (I) pre-catalyst reactants comprising (a) at least one first ligand-containing reactant; and (b) at least one first transition metal reactant suitable to form at least one metallocene or constrained geometry pre-catalyst compound (e.g., rac-ethylene bis(indenyl)zirconiUm dichloride); an optionally (c) at least one second ligand-containing reactant and (d) at least one second transition metal reactant suitable to form at least one non-metallocene, non-constrained geometry, bidentate or tridentate transition metal compound (e.g., tridentate 2,6-diacetylpyridine-bis(2,4,6-trimethylanaline)FeCl2) and (II) further contacting, jointly or individually, the pre-catalyst compound(s) and optional bidentate or tridentate compound(s) with at least one support-activator agglomerate (e.g., spray dried silica/clay agglomerate). When individually contacted, the supported catalyst components can be mixed or blended. The resulting transition metal catalyst systems are suitable for addition polymerization of unsaturated monomers, e.g., ethylene and propylene.
