Abstract: A conduit assembly is provided for attachment to a Mechanical Circulatory Device (MCD) having an orifice surrounded by an orifice rim and a blood bag for forming a blood chamber in the MCD. The blood bag has an open end extends through the orifice. The conduit assembly comprises a tube, a coupling and a washer. The tube is provided for conducting blood between a patient and the orifice of the MCD. The tube has an orifice end. The coupling attaches the orifice end of the tube to the orifice of the MCD with the open end of the blood bag folded over the orifice rim of the MCD. The coupling is movable between a rotatable position wherein the tube is rotatable relative to the MCD, and a locked position wherein the tube is immobile relative to the MCD. The washer is placed between the orifice end of the tube and the blood bag folded over the orifice rim of the MCD. The washer has an inner section which has a shape corresponding to a space between the orifice end of the tube and the blood bag folded over the orifice rim of the MCD so as to smooth the transition between the tube and the blood bag at the orifice of the MCD to reduce turbulence in blood flowing between the tube and the blood bag.

Abstract: A portable pouch for use in heating temperature sensitive materials is disclosed. The pouch includes a heating unit with one or more fasteners attached around its outer edges. The heating unit can be folded to allow the one or more fasteners to secure opposing outer edges of the heating unit together to form a pocket for substantially enclosing the materials to be warmed. The heating unit can be electrically connected to a direct current power source. The heating unit includes first and second cover layers enclosing a heat generating element and a carbon-based heat spreading element. A thermal insulation layer is also positioned between the first and the second cover layers. The heating element is adapted to generate and evenly spread heat over the interior surface of the pocket to evenly heat the materials disposed within the pocket.

Abstract: A lacrosse pocket protector is provided. The lacrosse pocket protector includes a body portion formed of semi flexible material. Further, the lacrosse pocket protector includes a first connector for coupling around a throat of a head of a lacrosse stick; a second connector for coupling to a top portion of the head of the lacrosse stick; and a third connector for coupling around side walls of the head of the lacrosse stick. The body portion is placed in a curved position in response to coupling the first connector and the second connector to the head of the lacrosse stick. Additionally, the lacrosse pocket protector is moveable between an engaged and a disengaged position. In the disengaged position, the lacrosse pocket protector may be coupled to the head of the lacrosse stick. Abstract: A valve containment assembly for an irrigation system may have a first side wall unit, a grate, a second side wall unit, and a lid. The first side wall unit may be disposed on the floor of a hole. The grate may be positioned in the first side wall unit to support a manifold. The second side wall unit rests on the first side wall unit to cover the manifold and the lid may be disposed on top of the side wall unit. The first side wall unit and the grate elevate the manifold above the floor of the hole to reduce interference of soil and water with the manifold. Additional side wall units may be used to provide additional height. Any of the side wall units may have frangible portions that break away to permit passage of conduits into the valve containment assembly.

Abstract: Liquid crystal display devices having display screens with an improved black frame is provided. The microdisplay of the LCD is formed of a matrix of pixels disposed on the top surface of a silicon substrate, a layer of glass, and a layer of a reflective metal, preferably aluminum, which is disposed between the silicon substrate and layer of glass. The layer of reflective metal has a pattern, which forms a frame around the matrix of pixels, and is involved in generating the black frame when viewed by the user on the display screen. The reflective material functions to reflect light back to the light generating source, and thus displays a pure black image to the user. In another embodiment, a layer of reflective metal, preferably black chromium, patterned to form a frame around the matrix of pixels, is disposed on the top surface of the glass. The reflective metal layer on top of the glass may be used either in place of, or in addition to, the reflective metal layer on the bottom of the glass to generate the improved black frame.
