    摘要: Embodiments of the disclosed technology are directed to a self-contained, totally implantable blood pump that replaces the whole heart. It is a small spherical device that encloses all of its blood propulsion dynamics. The dynamics are controlled by a built-in microcontroller that regulates the speed of the motor in response to hemodynamic changes like blood pressure fluctuations, level of body activity, and/or posture. The hemodynamic changes are detected using a plurality of sensors disposed around the body. An implantable transcutaneously rechargeable battery provides power to the microcontroller, motor and/or sensors.

    摘要: For the treatment of an insufficient cardiac valve or a cardiac valve with a stenosis, a device is provided that comprises a micro axial pump (40). The pump portion (14) of the micro axial pump carries a dilating device (18) suitable for pushing open a stenosis in a valve. The dilating device is designed as a high-pressure balloon. During dilation, the micro axial pump (40) operates so that the heart is relieved. With insufficient cardiac valves, a stent (21) is fastened to the dilating device (17), the stent surrounding a flexible cardiac valve prosthesis (20). By dilation, the stent (21) is pressed against the insufficient cardiac valve and the same is passivated. The cardiac valve of the cardiac valve prosthesis is unfolded to assume the function of the natural cardiac valve.

    摘要: At least one aspect of the invention is directed to a pump system for pumping blood though a body passageway. The pump system includes a distal section having at least one inlet to receive blood, a pumping section in fluid communication with the distal section to receive blood from the distal section, and a pump constructed and arranged to be positioned within the pumping section to draw blood into the pumping section in a first phase of operation and to pump blood out of the at least one outlet valve in a second phase of operation. The pump system may be configured such that the at least one inlet is in fluid communication with the pumping section in both the first phase of operation and the second phase of operation. At least one other aspect of the invention is directed to a pump system for pumping blood from one of the right atrium and the right ventricle to the pulmonary artery.

    摘要: Preparing the heart for connection with a ventricular assist device (VAD) can include attaching an attachment ring to a ventricular apex of the heart. The attachment ring optionally includes a seal or a valve to allow the procedure to be performed with or without a heart-lung bypass. A valve can be temporarily attached to the attachment ring. Tissue is removed from the ventricular apex through the attachment ring to form a hole through which an inflow conduit of the VAD can be inserted. A slit can first be made in the ventricular apex to facilitate removal of the tissue. A clamp can be closed around the attachment ring to secure the inflow conduit.
