    摘要: A air bearing slider that flies above a surface of a recording disk during relative rotation of the recording disk. A plurality of projections extend along the side of the slider body, and a plurality of negative pressure air cavities are formed between the projections. The projections act as pneumatic bearings, creating supporting positive forces for supporting the slider. The negative pressure air cavities create negative forces for pulling the slider down. The positive and negative forces on the center of mass of the slider are balanced to provide a more stable, static, and dynamic flying attitude for the slider. The resulting pressure profile of the slider has high pressure near the leading end, relatively low pressure in the middle, and relatively high pressure near the trailing end. This ensures that the minimum spacing between the slider of the disk is very insensitive to roll parameters.

The fore end of the filter wall has a tapered surface that extends to an apex. The distal end of the filter wall has a first filter attachment portion separated from a second filter attachment portion by a groove. The second filter attachment portion may be longer than the first filter attachment portion. The filter wall induces a flow of air that inhibits particle attachment to a reverse side of the filter.

A disk cover mounts on the disk base to encapsulate the air chamber. The disk base and disk damper are disclosed.

    摘要: A hard disk drive using a micro-actuator assembly to position a slider over a track on a rotating disk surface. The micro-actuator assembly includes a first piezoelectric device and a second piezoelectric device, both mechanically coupled to the slider. The first piezoelectric device includes a first terminal electrically coupled to a first voltage line and a second terminal electrically coupled to a ground line. The second piezoelectric device includes a third terminal electrically coupled to a ground line and a fourth terminal electrically coupled to a voltage line. A voltage applied to the first voltage line stimulates only the first piezoelectric device to alter a lateral position of the slider over the rotating disk surface, and a second voltage applied to the second voltage line stimulates only the second piezoelectric device to alter the lateral position of the slider over the rotating disk surface.
