摘要: The synthesis of high performance WC-Co cemented carbides which can be efficiently used in the cutting tool industry. WC with different particle sizes and different grain growth inhibitors were consolidated through spark plasma sintering technique and to form a cemented carbide with best combination of mechanical properties. VC and Cr3C2 are included as grain growth inhibitors in different amounts and combination to the WC-Co powder composition. Higher amount of inhibitors results in lower grain sizes and higher hardness values, however adding more than a crucial amount was observed to degrade the mechanical properties.

摘要: A biocompatible polymer hybrid nanocomposite coating on a surface of a substrate, such as titanium and its alloys. The coating can be achieved by an electrostatic spray coating, preferably using ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) as a matrix for the coating. For example, up to 2.95 wt. % carbon nanotubes can be used as reinforcement, as can up to 4.95 wt. % hydroxyapatite. A dispersion of CNTs and HA in the coating is substantially uniform. The tribological performance of such coatings include high hardness, improved scratch resistance, excellent wear resistance, and corrosion resistance compared to pure UHMWPE coatings.

摘要: A method for producing a biodegradable magnesium metal composite that includes a polycrystalline magnesium matrix and TiB2 grains which are homogenously distributed in the polycrystalline magnesium matrix involving spark plasma sintering a milled mixture of magnesium powder and TiB2 powder. The temperature, pressure, and time of the spark plasma sintering used in the method are used to give high microharness, macrohardness, and density with low porosity by limiting the grain growth in the composite. The method yields a biodegradable magnesium metal composite having an improved microhardness, macrohardness, density, and porosity compared to other composites and methods of making composites.

摘要: The recycled crumb rubber coating is a corrosion-proof coating for piping and the like. The coating is formed from recycled crumb rubber mixed with an epoxy resin and a hardener. Crumb rubber is first mixed with a liquid epoxy resin. An agent for reducing the viscosity of the liquid epoxy resin may also be added. A hardener is then added to this mixture. Finally, powdered crumb rubber is added and mixed to form the recycled crumb rubber coating. The total crumb rubber forms about 23-24 wt % of the coating, the balance being epoxy. The epoxy has liquid epoxy resin and a hardener in a ratio of about 2:1 by weight. The epoxy may also include a viscosity reducing agent of about 1% of the total weight of the liquid resin and the hardener. The crumb rubber may be a blend of powdered crumb rubber and mesh crumb rubber.

摘要: A recycled crumb rubber coating with a hydrophobic surface and a method for making the same. The coating with a hydrophobic surface includes a recycled crumb rubber coating layer comprising about 24-50 wt % of a crumb rubber, and about 25-75 wt % of an epoxy comprising a liquid epoxy resin and an epoxy hardener, and a first silane film comprising at least one silane and disposed on a surface of the recycled crumb rubber coating layer to form the hydrophobic surface. The method includes (a) mixing a crumb rubber with a liquid epoxy resin to form a first mixture, (b) mixing the first mixture with an epoxy hardener to form a recycled crumb rubber coating layer, and (c) depositing a first silane film comprising at least one silane on a surface of the recycled crumb rubber coating layer to form the hydrophobic surface of the recycled crumb rubber coating.
