The present invention is directed to the preparation of optionally pigmented spreading paste based on multiphase mixtures of ionically-modified polyurethanes and/or polyurethane ureas which are prepared from special synthesis components based on silicone resins, aromatic hydroxypolyethers, aromatichydroxy polyesters, and perfluorocarbon resins, the multiphase mixtures additionally containing water and organic solvents for the polyurethanes and/or polyurethane ureas. The present invention is also directed to the preparation of these optionally pigmented spreading pastes and to their use for the production of coatings permeable to water vapor on fabric or leather substrates by the direct or transfer method using the technique of evaporation.

This invention relates to spreading pastes containing polyurethanes which are prepared from special synthesis components selected from the group of silicone resins, polyethers or polyesters containing aromatic segments or perfluorocarbon resins. The spreading pastes also contain organic solvents and optionally non-solvents for the polyurethanes so that when the coatings are used to coat textile substrates according to the direct or transfer process, the coatings may be cured based on the principle of evaporation coagulation.

The present invention is directed to aqueous coating compositions suitable for use as coating and finishing agents for surface coatings, preferably PVC or polyurethane coatings, based on sedimentation-stable polyurethane dispersions having a solids content of about 10-70% by weight wherein the polyurethane-urea solids material is based on polyester diols, low molecular weight diols and optionally triols, chemically incorporated hydrophilic groups, specific mixtures of diisocyanates and polyamine chain extenders having an average functionality of greater than 2 and wherein the aqueous preparations additionally contain alkoxylated dimethyl-polysiloxanes and water-soluble polyethylene oxides. The present invention is also directed to a process for applying top coats and finishes to surface coatings, preferably PVC or polyurethane surface coatings, wherein the above-described aqueous coating and finishing agents are used as the top coat and the coatings are cured at about 70.degree.-170.degree. C.

This invention relates to coating compositions based on aqueous polyurethane dispersions, as well as the use of the coating compositions for the production of top coats or finishes on flexible substrates, particularly on PVC. The present coating agents contain an aqueous polyurethane dispersion having certain physico-chemical properties and the following composition of the solid substance:(A) from about 30 to 60%, by weight, of a hexane diol-1,6-polyester diol having a molecular weight of from about 500 to 6000;(B) up to about 8%, by weight, of a relatively low molecular weight triol having a molecular weight of from about 91 to 399;(C) from about 3 to 30%, by weight, of one or more mono- or poly-functional compounds bearing cationic and/or anionic groups and/or containing non-ionic polyoxyethylene segments;(D) from about 20 to 50%, by weight, of a diisocyanate corresponding to the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, which may be the same or different, each represents hydrogen or a straight- or branched-chain aliphatic hydrocarbon radical containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms;(E) from about 2.5 to 20%, by weight, of other aliphatic and/or cycloaliphatic diisocyanates; and(F) from about 0.5 to 4%, by weight, of hydrazine; and optionally conventional additives, auxiliaries and catalysts.

This invention relates to compositions of aqueous polyurethane dispersions containing polyurethanes having lateral OH-groups, optionally in admixture with PU-dispersions without any lateral OH-groups, which contain a combination of formaldehyde resins and blocked polyisocyanates as crosslinking agent and, optionally handle-improving agents, silicones and standard additives.The present invention also relates to the use of these compositions for the production of light coatings by the heat-activated, one-coat reverse coating process, in which the PU-composition is applied to a temporary support and dried, after which the (textile) substrate is laminated onto the dry polyurethane film at elevated temperature and pressure and the polyurethane laminate formed is subsequently crosslinked at a relatively high temperature.Mixed crosslinking with formaldehyde resins plus blocked polyisocyanates makes it possible to obtain coatings characterized by outstanding substrate adhesion and wet strength values.
