Stabilized, water-soluble polymer powders based on polyoxyalkylene glycol carboxylates are described, wherein the powders comprise from 0.01 to 10% by weight of a stabilizer selected from the group consisting of phenols, amines, phosphites, thioethers, and also thioacids, and where the stabilizer was added in liquid or dissolved form to the aqueous polymer solution prior to its conversion into the powder form. The polymer powders thus protected against autoignition and oxidative degradation have unexpectedly high thermooxidative stability, even on exposure to high temperatures and oxidizing action (air, oxygen).

Disclosed is a flow improving agent for binder suspensions containing cement which is composed of a) amino-s-triazine-formaldehyde-sulfite condensation products having a molar ratio of amino-s-triazine:formaldehyde:sulfite of 1:1.3 to 6.0: 0.3 to 1.5 and a low content of free formaldehye as well as b) casein. The flow improving agents have the advantage that the flowability is considerably improved compared to casein (alone) for example and the increased flowability remains constant even over a longer time period.

The invention relates to a self-crosslinking, high-molecular polyurethane dispersion based on oxidatively drying diols and/or triols, and consisting of the reaction constituents (A) of an unsaturated fatty acid constituent for oxidative drying, (B) a polyol constituent, (C) a polyisocyanate constituent, (D) a solvent constituent, (E) a neutralisation constituent, (F) a siccative constituent, (G) a chain lengthening constituent, and water. The advantages of said polyurethane dispersion are the technically simple production thereof, whereby the properties of the polyurethane dispersion and the polyurethane films can be tailor-made by means of the polyol constituents, in addition to the excellent drying capacity thereof, and the other good application technology properties thereof such as hardness and chemical resistance during the use of the binding agent for high-grade lacquers and coatings.

Water-soluble formaldehyde-free polycondensation products based on amino-s-triazines with at least two amino groups and glyoxylic acid, which contain as further component at least one amino compound and where the molar ratio of amino-s-triazine to glyoxylic acid to amino compound is 1:0.5 to 6.0:0.1 to 2.0. These polycondensation products are excellently suited as additives for aqueous suspensions of inorganic binders, especially cement, lime and gypsum. Building material mixtures which contain these polycondensation products remain workable for a considerably longer time and, in spite of this, also set more quickly.

In the proposed condensation product based on amino-s-triazines with at least two amino groups, formaldehyde and sulphite, the molar ratio of amino-s-triazine, formaldehyde and sulphite is 1:2.5-6.0:1.51-2.0 and the formiate content is less than 0.3 wt %. The condensation product is obtained by a) heating amino-s-triazine, formaldehyde and a sulphite in the molar ratio 1:2.5-6.0:1.51-2.0 in an aqueous solution at a temperature of 60-90° C. and a pH level of between 9.0 and 13.0 until the sulphite can no longer be detected; b) continuing the condensation at a pH level of between 3.0 and 6.5 and a temperature of 60-80° C. until the condensation product has a viscosity of 5-50 mm/s at 80° C.; and c) adjusting the pH level of the condensation product to 7.5-12.0 or carrying out thermal secondary treatment at a pH level of >10.0 and a temperature of 60-100° C. The product can be used as an additive for inorganic binders such as cement.

A description is given of a solvent-free polyurethane dispersion having a high solids content of polyurethane polymer or fillers, which is obtainable by a) allowing a relatively high molecular weight polyol component (A) (i) and, if desired, a low molecular weight polyol component (A) (ii) to react with a polyisocyanate component (B) in the presence or absence of a catalyst to give a polyurethane preadduct, then b) reacting the polyurethane preadduct from step a) with a low molecular weight and anionically modifiable polyol component (A) (iii) containing two or more hydroxyl groups and one or more carboxyl groups to give the corresponding prepolymer, c) allowing the prepolymer from step b) to react with a neutralization component (C) until the carboxyl groups have been completely or partially neutralized, subsequently or simultaneously d) dispersing the neutralized prepolymer from step c) in water which may further comprise a formulation component (F) comprising fillers, pigments, plasticizers, fibrous materials and other customary additives, subsequently e) reacting the dispersion from step d) with a chain extension component (D), and f) if desired, allowing the dispersion from step e) to react with a chain stopper component (E). The polyurethane dispersion of the invention has an ideal linear segmented structure due to its method of preparation and has extraordinarily high solids contents combined with comparatively low viscosities, complete freedom from solvents, excellent materials properties (e.g. elasticity, elongation and tensile strength) and is prepared by a technically simple process.

Described is a polyurethane/polymer hybrid dispersion with high film hardness, which comprises the reaction components (A) from 3 to 25% by weight of a polyol component consisting of (i) from 2 to 20% by weight of a relatively high molecular mass polyol component, (ii) from 0.5 to 5% by weight of a low molecular mass polyol component, (iii) from 0.5 to 3% by weight of a low molecular mass and anionically modifiable polyol component, (B) from 2 to 20% by weight of a polyisocyanate component, (C) if desired, from 0 to 6% by weight of a solvent component consisting of (i) at least one polyisocyanate-inert organic solvent and/or (ii) a polyisocyanate-inert reactive diluent, (D) from 0.15 to 1.5% by weight of a neutralizing component, (E) from 0.1 to 1% by weight of a chain extender component, (F) from 5 to 40% by weight of a monomer component, (G) from 0.01 to 1.5% by weight of an initiator component, and water as the remainder. The advantages of the polyurethane/polymer hybrid dispersion of the invention, such as high hardness coupled with high flexibility of the crack-free films, good chemical resistance, great stability of the dispersion within a wide pH range, good freeze/thaw stability, and the use of inexpensive raw materials, are achieved in a simplified synthesis route, without subsequence chemical crosslinking, with a simultaneously low organic solvent content (≦4% by weight), and with good filming at temperatures ≦+10° C.
